HANNIBAL on NBC seems amazing and therefore deserves it's own thread!

netflix/hulu def possible, fuller seems to have said something oblique to that effect

but netflix is very much in a too many cooks situation with all its shows, i feel like

The first two seasons are on amazon, so amazon seems like the logical resurecter. I don't think I can handle if this ends without Hannibal being caught. I need to know he's not still out there, dammit!

I should probably stop watching Bryan Fuller shows. They always end up being cancelled before their time.

tbf this went the longest, and has the best chance at a 2nd life. im surprised dead like me & pushing daisies ever got to two, frankly. sometimes i still miss daisies.

Dead Like Me went to two, but Fuller left much earlier. And Pushing Daisies only managed 22 episodes. And yeah, I miss that show. And Wonderfalls!

never saw wonderfalls. daisies was so good/fully realized in its style that it surpassed all my usual defenses against twee things - much like hannibal has a lot of ppl watching extremely violent horror who don't watch horror

mockingbird lane was a disastrous experiment though, idk what ever possessed him to think that was a good idea

never really been into checking out this dude's other shows because I figured there was something about this one that gelled for me

what should I check out if I search out another one?

Pushing Daisies is so great, and surprisingly morbid as well. The death count is prob not as high as in Hannibal, but it's up there!

Pushing Daisies is great but i can see it being overly sweet for some people. Wonderfalls was just great, though, really one of the strangest premises for a show ever done on a network, lotta unique stuff going on.

Oh man yeah Pushing Daisies was like eating a pound of Sweet and Low. So saccharine. I hated it.

I watched about 10 episodes of Dead Like Me and then forgot it existed. Maybe I'll try it again although the dynamic between the main character and Mandy Patinkin was tiresome.

Felt like an almost perfunctory thing considering it was exactly what happened in the book/film. Good turn to have Jack Crawford immediately wallop him.

Hannibal's little grin when he admits he called Verger's hotline just for fun was bewitching

and Hannibal, for once, being seen in the act by Jack is such a great moment. cleaning off his knife, kind of glancing down at his friend seeing him as he really is

"night and day must have been the same in the end" about Jack's wife

ties right back to Chiyo saying that night is a different world

this season feels much more abstract and campy than in the past but still excellent

I love this season so far. Really appreciate what the show has done with Hannibal's backstory. The "origin" of his cannibslism as depicted in Hannibal the book and Hannibal Rising was pretty silly and defanged the character somewhat.

I'm fine with Anderson as Verger, he seems to be having fun gnawing the scenery.

his makeup sux too, i hate how the top half of his face is just normal handsome guy. gary oldman's verger in the movie was so grotesque and memorable and it seems like a weird lapse on the show's part to just do a pale imitation of him, especially after successfully reimagining so many other characters.

all the Chiyoh + Will scenes are terrible - not sure whether it's the writing or the acting that's off but either way, feels like the show is dragging its feet a bit until Hannibal gets caught. Like what was the point of throwing Will out of the train again?

afaik they wrote this season's ending (as with all prior season endings) with the idea that it could be a final, closed ending. like if they'd gotten canceled last time around that wouldve been deeply awful but it sure as fuck would've been a concrete ending (i.e. "they're all fuckin dead i guess :[")
