Why do u hate DJ, lj?
― Spottie, Monday, 22 June 2015 02:57 (eleven years ago)
I don't, he just doesn't stand out for me and I root for Speith, DJ played some fab golf
― imago, Monday, 22 June 2015 03:28 (eleven years ago)
yeah he really coughed that tourney up. he hit the ball way better than anyone but couldn't capitalize with the putter.

Lingmerth out in 29 (-7)!! Dropped one since.
Spieth starts birdie, birdie. Ho-hum.
Tiger puts a wedge into the water at the first.
Sacrilege I know, but I find St Andrews p boring. Must have the dullest opening tee shot in major golf.

Matsuyama's swing is so beautiful, with the little pause at the top.
― pandemic, Thursday, 16 July 2015 09:07 (ten years ago)
St Andrews without rough weather is basically just a big field.
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Thursday, 16 July 2015 09:22 (ten years ago)
Lovely little town though.
Most links golf is useless w/out the wind. Hopefully it'll pick up.
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 16 July 2015 09:33 (ten years ago)
2 hours in and i already want to kill dan walker
― pandemic, Thursday, 16 July 2015 10:27 (ten years ago)
all evidence to the contrary, and there's plenty, i'm still not convinced by spieth. his ball striking looks nothing more than okay to me. boy he can roll his ball though. 6 under thru' 11.
― pandemic, Thursday, 16 July 2015 11:17 (ten years ago)
meanwhile tiger 5 over after 11 in what will probably be the easiest conditions of the week. feel sorry that poor old Louis Oosterhuizen is partnered with him today just like Chambers Bay.
― pandemic, Thursday, 16 July 2015 11:23 (ten years ago)
Ugh, everything is terrible here when the golf is on.
― Rouge Trooper (dowd), Thursday, 16 July 2015 11:35 (ten years ago)
By which I mean that it adds about 2 hours to my day.
― Rouge Trooper (dowd), Thursday, 16 July 2015 14:50 (ten years ago)
Well, the rain has delayed play, but now I'll just get to moan about how the pubs are full of folk who aren't at the golf.

dustin johnson looks like he should rule golf, but there's that vulnerability of putting - perhaps he is interesting & worth rooting for

Yeah was just thinking that.
Great to see Paidi back up there.
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Sunday, 19 July 2015 15:30 (ten years ago)
I turn away for a few minutes and there's two Irish guys at the top of the leaderboard.
― This Year's Model Victim (Tom D.), Sunday, 19 July 2015 15:35 (ten years ago)
... and one of them's an amateur! Anyway Spieth's back at -11.
― This Year's Model Victim (Tom D.), Sunday, 19 July 2015 15:52 (ten years ago)
shit, this will be incredible
smart money's probably on my namesake tbh
― gawker's psychotic monkeys (imago), Sunday, 19 July 2015 19:59 (ten years ago)
really, really want spieth to do this obv
Guys called Jordan not having a great time of it at the moment.
― This Year's Model Victim (Tom D.), Sunday, 19 July 2015 20:07 (ten years ago)
My golf-watching has slowed down to almost nothing post-Tiger, but I'll watch and root for Spieth tomorrow (who I didn't even know before this year's Masters). I waited forever for a baseball Triple Crown, finally experienced that with Cabrera. Have been waiting just as long for a golf Grand Slam; I was just starting to pay attention when Nicklaus got stopped by Trevino in '72.
― clemenza, Monday, 20 July 2015 01:58 (ten years ago)
I like Spieth and all but he is so slow sometimes. Also why are so many players wearing grey? there was like no color out there today.
― Spottie, Monday, 20 July 2015 06:20 (ten years ago)
bizarre play from dustin too. seemed so shook out there today.
― Spottie, Monday, 20 July 2015 06:24 (ten years ago)
in order of who i want to winsergiolouisjason dayanyone but spieth
― pandemic, Monday, 20 July 2015 12:46 (ten years ago)
In order of who I want to win:
PadraigSergioSpieth
(in order of how much money I'll win if they win)
― ailsa, Monday, 20 July 2015 12:53 (ten years ago)
paul dunne ftw
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 13:32 (ten years ago)
5 tied for the lead now
― call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 13:35 (ten years ago)
Dunne would be my second choice after Spieth. Looked it up, and an amateur hasn't won a major since 1933 (not Jones--Johnny Goodman). Dunne would forfeit the $1.8 million prize money: "Amateur players are not eligible to win prize money and therefore, should an amateur win The 144th Open first place prize money will be distributed proportionately among the professional players who have made the cut." More humiliation: no money for Tiger.
― clemenza, Monday, 20 July 2015 13:37 (ten years ago)
i was reading that this morning - he won't go short of a beer this evening if that happens. p tough on him though - £1.1m could make you for a long time, especially if this was a one-off.
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 13:40 (ten years ago)
doesn't look like dunne will have to worry about that prize money :(
― call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 13:48 (ten years ago)
Dunne looks like he's headed for 78 or something. Even if he doesn't win, I hope he doesn't have one of these career-defining meltdowns.
― clemenza, Monday, 20 July 2015 13:48 (ten years ago)
i guess he still loses prize money regardless of how low he sinks
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 13:57 (ten years ago)
true and that does suck
― call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 13:59 (ten years ago)
i mean i suppose for your sponsorship and all the other worries of a young amateur golfer, this is probably still great for his career.
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 14:16 (ten years ago)
this is so exciting btw - so glad i'm working from home!
― doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 14:18 (ten years ago)
Good bounce-back by Dunne.
The three amateurs up near the top are going to combine for a lot of money regardless. They ought to pass that on to some charity--do all the professionals really need to pocket an extra $50,000 or whatever?
― clemenza, Monday, 20 July 2015 14:20 (ten years ago)
xp work from home golfstream hi-5
― call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 14:29 (ten years ago)
haha - hi-5 returned. i worked my ass off this morning to allow myself to do a particularly easy piece of work for the afternoon. my dad is texting me constantly, he has harrington at 110-1, oosthuizen at 50-1, and dunne at 7/1 to be leading amateur. #gamblor
