i keep thinking stannis might die, but then i remember Melisandre. i'd guess like she'll have some sort of role to play (tee hee) during the battles/war against the white walkers, just because she's got the magic thing going on. seems like her fire witch spells + dragons + special sword materials that can destroy white walkers might what ends up saving the day at the end. and if stannis died, i can't see the army switching their loyalties to her, since she's creepy and keeps trying to sleep with people and advises leaders to burn their only children with at least some frequency.

Letting Stannis die would be such a tv-version thing to do. He did what the red god asked of him. By the logic of the world he should be safe. So I'm going with everyone he fights against.

(We're so far away from the books, that I feel like I can speculate freely. #NoSpoilers)

Frederik B, Sunday, 14 June 2015 19:29 (eleven years ago)

not that far away. pretty sure the person who dies at the end of the last book will die tonight

we hate Stannis now, so he's probably safe. my guess is Arya or Sansa. Possibly Tyrion.

That comet from the beginning of season two - remember that one? - is going to come back, and smash westeros the fuck up. Winter is coming, nuclear winter.

Frederik B, Sunday, 14 June 2015 23:02 (eleven years ago)

...huh.

Who did Dany run into? They looked Dothraki.

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Monday, 15 June 2015 02:05 (eleven years ago)

I'm increasingly unsure as to where this show is going and what the point of it is. Everything more or less makes sense but we might be losing too many toe holds into positive storylines.

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 15 June 2015 02:17 (eleven years ago)

Also are we all caught up now in the books? I know some bit have been surpassed but we could really start a new, more or less combined thread now, can't we?

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 15 June 2015 02:27 (eleven years ago)

as I understand it there are things that never happened in the show that could still come up later, so it's tricky?

well that's a bomb drop

slothroprhymes, Monday, 15 June 2015 04:14 (eleven years ago)

well i was gonna say they telegraphed the slow acting poison way too much but then lots of other stuff happened.
kinda terrified to go near social media for the next 24 hours.

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 June 2015 04:39 (eleven years ago)

i'll kick it off with the obvious question with as few spoilers as possible for the moment: is that last death a major deviation from the book?

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 June 2015 04:40 (eleven years ago)

Nope. The only deviation is in its finality (vaguely open in the book that character might still be alive -- in the show, per all the stories just now, character is dead dead dead.)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 June 2015 04:43 (eleven years ago)

"Stories" = embargoed articles now running, interviews etc.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 June 2015 04:44 (eleven years ago)

Pretty sure the showrunners and actor are Snowing us

Hell Books (latebloomer), Monday, 15 June 2015 04:55 (eleven years ago)

You know something, etc.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 June 2015 04:56 (eleven years ago)

I think the stories are saying that because they prob don't want to commit to ambiguity

slothroprhymes, Monday, 15 June 2015 04:56 (eleven years ago)

for the watch

lag∞n, Monday, 15 June 2015 05:01 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 15 June 2015 05:04 (eleven years ago)

Xp to ned, that would explain the long slow gutter of blood and empty face for five seconds, wasnt sure why they felt the need to underline so obsessively

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 June 2015 05:21 (eleven years ago)

bc there is power in kings' blood i dunno

resulting post (rogermexico.), Monday, 15 June 2015 06:33 (eleven years ago)

loved reek's Vader move, tossing what's her face off the balcony there.

nomar, Monday, 15 June 2015 06:35 (eleven years ago)

well i think the point is that if it was left even somewhat open in the book, they were pretty goddamn definitive there unless they're gonna do a zombie mountain on him.

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 June 2015 06:59 (eleven years ago)

Next obvious question: are we more or less up to date with what's been revealed in the book?

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 June 2015 07:05 (eleven years ago)

apparently yes

get ready for a lot of tiresome speculation for the next 9.5 months

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Monday, 15 June 2015 07:13 (eleven years ago)

Awesome, i will now read the entire spoiler thread and get caught up on all that nonsense.

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 June 2015 08:23 (eleven years ago)

Wait! I can still think of one thing that hasn't happened that's kind of a big deal!

Rouge Trooper (dowd), Monday, 15 June 2015 08:30 (eleven years ago)

surely a coincidence that Melisandre showed up at the wall two minutes before Jon Snow got Ides of Marched.

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 15 June 2015 09:54 (eleven years ago)

Liked Sam's saying "fuck off, no chance" to celibacy.

Hope those Night Watch bastards get comeuppance.

I'm rooting for Cersei's revenge now. Never thought I'd be glad to see her and Mountain alive. Just hoping Margaery and Loras will be okay.

Really hoping there won't be a big long search for Dany.

As bad as things are for some, at least Varys, Davos, Sansa and Theon are in better circumstances now.

Wonder what will happen to that Dornish guy on the boat.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 15 June 2015 10:00 (eleven years ago)

I assume we're meant to know that Dani found another Dothraki tribe that will end up being her army

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 15 June 2015 10:12 (eleven years ago)

I think the dragon is the only reason they'd treat her favourably. There's very little chance they'd be loyal to her because of their prior association.
They did look almost like they were celebrating so maybe they saw her flying the dragon.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 15 June 2015 10:21 (eleven years ago)

Jaime could turn the boat around. I don't think he has any reason to fear Dorne, especially with the Dornish boy. I initially thought he'd kill the boy in a rage but maybe he'd be more sympathetic because the boy will be distraught too.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 15 June 2015 10:24 (eleven years ago)

I know the big spoiler that hasn't happened (and might never) in the tv show, so I'm off to the spoiler thread too.
Winds Of Winter is probably coming out at the end of this year so it won't be a safe thread forever.
