I thought I'd be very pleasantly impressed with the Pawalla Mini too, but since it's inappropriate for small dogs, I'm only slightly pretty impressed. Keep trying, guys!

i like the idea of a teas of the month club if the tea was from all over the world but i think most of the tea ones i have seen are just one company that sends you their different teas.

this one looks cool though. 20 bucks a month.

My wife got me a Caffe Vita coffee subscription. It's only one 12oz bag per month, but since I only brew at home on weekends, it should cover a decent chunk of the month. If I was going to get a tea one I'd be tempted to try the Teabox subscription. I had a sampler pack of their teas once, and they were all pretty good.

Why are you taking a break? I need my Cheese! It's that time of year when a lot of people are away, there is an unholy amount of turkey to get through and Royal Mail have a quadrillion parcels to deliver causing a ton of disruptions. To avoid posties getting lost/missed/stolen by elves/going stale we're taking the opportunity to re-coup and allow our Cheese umpa lumpas time to re-fuel and get obscenely fat/drunk (as if they need an excuse).

lol if you buy legs they come with a carrying case and the company gives you yelp results for local places to get surfaces to complete your table with
― j., Saturday, 9 January 2016 02:21 (ten years ago)
lol I know!
TBH I think a leg kit would be a cool idea if it was like $50 tops and not the price of an actual nice coffee table.

― j., Saturday, 9 January 2016 05:05 (ten years ago)
I'm admittedly sort of amused/intrigued by what kind of lifestyle would involve portable table legs, like just showing up places and making insta-tables out of doors or whatever. Junkyard picnicker?
Similarly, why you would need a bed that is extra-easy to move (although not like so easy that you don't still have to carry three presumably moderately heavy pieces of pressboard).

― Doctor Casino, important war pigeon (Doctor Casino), Saturday, 9 January 2016 17:43 (ten years ago)
There is probably an edge case where hauling around brackets and legs from dorm to studio to group home to etc etc is more practical than moving whole pieces of furniture - but I don't know if that edge case merits a premium on hardware
― El Tomboto, Sunday, 10 January 2016 01:18 (ten years ago)
edge case also sleeps on a futon
that's where he edges
― j., Sunday, 10 January 2016 01:35 (ten years ago)
but these brackets still have to screw into a wall, right? so what's the big portability angle that they're pushing? that you can clamp in a fence paling?

― El Tomboto, Sunday, 10 January 2016 02:16 (ten years ago)
presumably the corner case is tombot's edge case + the sort of disposable income that buys $36 bookends
idk part of me is like, if this works for them, more power to them. another part is distressed that it seemed like the more rational decision to market The Products Of America's Depressed Manufacturing And Steelworks Industry as $$$ status objects and not cheap-ass things for less markup, more volume
― carly rae jetson (thomp), Sunday, 10 January 2016 02:20 (ten years ago)
otoh i think that amounts to 'why don't they market saving the working classes to the lower middle classes. why is it just the upper middle classes get to feel good about these things.'
― carly rae jetson (thomp), Sunday, 10 January 2016 02:21 (ten years ago)
Man this thing is dumb as hell and obv. way too expensive but tbh I do think about movability a lot when I look at furniture because I move way too often, so I guess their target market is "people who are running from something but SPOILER you can't run from yourself."

I just feel like the "I move every year" demographic is not the "$435 bedframe plz" demographic. I mean I'm a stable professional family man and we still sleep on a simple captains bedframe we got for around $75 off craigslist. And that shit has DRAWERS motherfucker, technology these Floyd folk are still decades away from developing.
― on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 11 January 2016 03:06 (ten years ago)
You could move a lot and get a new shitty coffee table (with the actual table table) from the nearest op-shop or w/e each time before you'd hit $179.
― écorché (S-), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 05:39 (ten years ago)
The clamping furniture is a solid idea, if you could buy it for 1/5th the price at Lowe's and pick out some wood to stain while you're there.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 07:27 (ten years ago)
tbh, people moving yearly or bi-yearly should be encouraged to not try to keep up w/ western norms while doing that. Fuck it, get a couple of real Japanese futons, some tatami mats and just live on the floor.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 07:30 (ten years ago)
Yeah I'm actually surprised I couldn't easily find (through google) a similar, cheaper version. Shouldn't be much more expensive than any other set of metal table legs. Someone will probably get on that soon.
― on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 15:52 (ten years ago)
Also with all the effort of finding a piece of wood to use you could probably just as easily find a trash-pickable coffee table.
