that said even a frankenclegane could prob be defeated somehow i highly doubt that it just singlehandedly kills all of cersei's 9 zillion enemies

really enjoyed seeing cersei licking water off the floor. she is the worst, i hate her.

lol

Cersei scene made me think of KISS's "Lick It Up" so that was some kind of positive. The battle scene was a pleasant surprise, although I don't think they shot it very well - all those abrupt/jump-cut shots of people bludgeoning each other, that's not how you do a well-orchestrated battle scene imo
― Οὖτις, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:31 (nine years ago) link
i think the point was that it was m/l a one-sided bloodbath rather than a battle
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:33 (nine years ago) link
sure
why can't zombies go in the water?
― Οὖτις, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:34 (nine years ago) link
maybe they dissolve.
― ian, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:35 (nine years ago) link
they should just walk along the ocean floor underneath the boats then when the boats arrive at their destination the zombies just walk up out of the water behind them "oh hai"
― Οὖτις, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:35 (nine years ago) link
it chills them to the bone ha ha

its seems like the white walkers r gonna be hard to defeat only dragons prob cld do it
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:42 (nine years ago) link
i bet dragon glass, valarian steel, and dragon fire all kill white walkers
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:43 (nine years ago) link
seems like normal fire should work on the normal zombies tho
― anonanon, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:44 (nine years ago) link
isn't there another valyrian blade out there? who has it? jamie? or bronn or brienne? i can't really remember.

― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 1 June 2015 16:45 (nine years ago) link
jamie and brienne each have ones that were melted down from the very big sword i think
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:46 (nine years ago) link
brienne and jon have them, jaime took the one that was supposed to be joffrey's i think, a handful of other lords have them
tyrion had a valyrian steel dagger but its prob long gone
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:47 (nine years ago) link
eddard's valyrian sword was melted down into 2 by twyin and he gave them to jamie and joffrey. jamie gave his to brienne, and i guess tommen has joffrey's now.
― mizzell, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:49 (nine years ago) link
they will prob need another sword or two
― bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Monday, 1 June 2015 16:50 (nine years ago) link
And valyrian steel is a special kind of... treatment of normal steel? Folding process? A totally different set of alloys?
― Mordy, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:52 (nine years ago) link
it's magic! since the doom of valyria no one knows how to make more.
― mizzell, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:53 (nine years ago) link
white walkers stuff was intense & v v dope
it's like "welp, it was a p good plan Jon Snow but here let me show you exactly how fucked you are"
― difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 1 June 2015 16:55 (nine years ago) link
they used to build shit in westeros - now they're importing steel from the east.
― bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Monday, 1 June 2015 16:55 (nine years ago) link
winter is winter
valyrian steel obv made of dragons duh
you can probably kill white walkers by throwing Stone Men at them
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 1 June 2015 16:56 (nine years ago) link
the only thing stopping them from killing the undead was the lack of a way of making sharp enough swords
― ogmor, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:59 (nine years ago) link
iirc it's forged in dragon fire
― tsrobodo, Monday, 1 June 2015 17:06 (nine years ago) link
does a have a real world counterpart where during the middle ages smelting techniques were more advanced in parts of asia than europe and the steel was imported and v expensive and a big tech advantage for those who had it
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 17:06 (nine years ago) link
asian dragons are significantly better for forging steel than european ones
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 1 June 2015 17:10 (nine years ago) link
yeah that scene where jon snow turned the zombie king to dust felt historical
― ogmor, Monday, 1 June 2015 17:11 (nine years ago) link
Why did it take them like ten minutes to be like "maybe we should go grab that bag of dragon glass stuff!"
Also, do you think the giant grabbed that bag?
― schwantz, Monday, 1 June 2015 18:21 (nine years ago) link
did anyone notice the wildling that was chest deep in the freezing water by the dock, helping with the boat(?), before the whitewalkers even appeared? he was just hanging out in the water, holding the boat steady
― Karl Malone, Monday, 1 June 2015 18:27 (nine years ago) link

the battle takes place at Hardhome, where the Wildlings have retreated after the earler battle at the Wall. so...the whitewalkers and the undead horde had to travel from the west to get to Hardhome, right? and no one saw them until they were about a mile away, avalanching down a mountain? come on guys you gotta send a scout or two out, this is embarrassing for you
― Karl Malone, Monday, 1 June 2015 19:09 (nine years ago) link
everyone too focused on the pretty jon snow
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 1 June 2015 19:10 (nine years ago) link
psh yeah you send scouts to "the haunted forest" xp
― Mordy, Monday, 1 June 2015 19:13 (nine years ago) link
i'll grant that the haunted forest is too scary to send scouts too. but what about the top of the mountain range that overlooks hardhome a mile away, or the piece of land east of scurry forest where the bays pinch in from the north and south? frankly, i'm beginning to think this entire show is just made up
― Karl Malone, Monday, 1 June 2015 19:17 (nine years ago) link
where did all these wildlings originally come from? west of craster's keep and they've been pushed to the east as the whitewalkers come? what is north of fist of the first men? uncharted?
― Mordy, Monday, 1 June 2015 19:21 (nine years ago) link
pretty sure we saw some of the scouts flying over the edge of the cliff with the rest of the dead guys.

nb by "originally come from" i don't mean to impugn the ethnic character of the widlings or suggest that they are in any way less westerosian than people south of the wall
― Mordy, Monday, 1 June 2015 19:22 (nine years ago) link
Have the wildlings ever actually battled against the walkers before? It seemed like this was the first time they really had to deal with them in earnest.
― polyphonic, Monday, 1 June 2015 19:27 (nine years ago) link
i think up until then they'd only really tried running and uh, running.
