i unfollowed everyone (save my bot, my magazine, and two zombie accounts that i can't unfollow) yesterday.

gonna follow a bunch of people back soon but man it's nice being weaned off the constant updates.

it is definitely like the modern day idiot box - you just have to be able to switch it off - everything becomes equally hysterical and irritating. i only really read it at work (less boring than work) with the odd tweet when at home.

opting out of twitter from jump continues to feel like the right call for my life

there are some really good things about it too - it brings me closer to communities of people talking about things i'm interested in - or allows me to discover knowledge on more particular interests, but it is hard to fence off the useful info and stop everything else crashing in

i love tweets and retweets

just a few months into having a twitter account but i am still finding it a useful networking tool in my field. my unfiltered feed is 60% worthless though, i find it more useful to check in on individuals i like

also if somebody notices it's happens in a kind of neurotic shame-zone dedicated to monitoring one's own popularity & so you know it's hard to really casually mention you noticed

it is a weird 'have it both ways' and i have never done it on principle. but i guess it helps if there are people you don't want to see who you don't want to deal with with them knowing you unfollowed them, though, unfortunately there is social ugliness on twitter that it can be better not to allow to escalate for some people. especially given how badly Twitter seems to handle issues of stalking, harrassment, etc.

I do time based mutes.

Twitter is 110 times better than Facebook since it's all out in the open.

Imo mute makes a lot of sense for temporary time outs

I have followed ppl and unfollowed them if I see they aren't tweeting much/at all - need #content

I don't think I ever unfollow for lack of content. How would I know? I'd never see them tweet.

i use a tool occasionally to unfollow inactive accounts otherwise i wild be following like ten million

nagl to follow too many accounts but i don't care i live life dangerously

i follow thousands of people. it's not generally advisable but i like just getting a big mess of voices in my feed and occasionally taking out ones that show themselves to be not worth the trouble.

nah i like most of the people i follow. there's lot of good people on the internet! it's a lot easier to curate your company on twitter than on say (cough cough) ilx.
