Zing Touch: ILX now ON IPHONE (and ipod tooches too)

u shd use lag∞n.css its based on old but its better

ah, old.css is great on desktops, but this lagoon.css is ~excellent~ on tablet.

zing does something kind of weird that i don't understand:

when i'm in a thread, and i tap on a post (to view a photo of video for example) then tap back to the thread view, it will scroll UP a few posts

it seems very counter-intuitive, like it should auto-scroll DOWN or at the very least stay put

it can also make looking at photo-threads very difficult

I've seen this. Minor annoyance for me.

It tries to centre vertically the row you selected. Incredibly annoying, but changing it is worse in other ways

I'm sure it has been mentioned before, but having a mechanism to move to the next post (and backward) without returning to the full thread of posts would help alleviate the issue. Especially for the image heavy threads.

yo stet I don't think it's an issue in zing but as I haven't hunted down the normal bug thread:

index.jsp isn't parsing content encoding the same way as other pages. the html sent to client is utf-8 as on other pages, but bookmarked threads with updates at the top show "?" instead of special characters -- the music notes in the "caek's corner" thread is a good example, as is a recent chicago thread.

hey stet, as a clumsy iphone typer, would it be possible to add a "are you SURE?" confirmation that would show up after pressing the trash icon? i've lost countless enormous posts (possibly a net benefit to ILX, admittedly) since the trash button is a few millimeters away from the keyboard on my phone. i realize it's possible to shake the phone to undo, but every time i've tried i end up crashing zing.

That's fixed on Zing Touch but you'll have to fork out all of £2.29 to enjoy such a luxury.

i have zing touch, but for some reason it didn't show up in my available updates -- oh, just realized why. latest version requires iOS 8.0 or higher, and i'm still rolling on iOS 7.0.6. that's my punishment for sticking with my trust 4s, i guess (i don't update to the latest OS because it makes my slow phone even slower)

I run the latest iOS and Zing Touch on my 4s and it seems about as fast as ever ... it helps that I turn off a lot of iOS default settings whenever I update (Background App Refresh in particular)

Relative timestamps unless I tap through to individual posts? That's horrible.

Plus there is this weirdness with 1 year, 1 month, but then it reverts back to 1 year:

It just makes it hard to scroll through a thread and determine if a post is at the beginning of a specific year or at the end of it.

what stylesheet is that? Standard shows the full date

It's on Zing Touch, the app. there is no style sheet.

Oh, I meant the Display Styles in Settings; it looks like they just pertain to fonts and not any sort of content or data.

I'm on Zing Touch as well and it looks diff from yours

mine's like jeff's (standard too) but I'm cool with it. it's actually better because now i see the name of a douche before accidentally reading what the douche has said

The poster name first is fine. Kind of annoying with the stupid long display names though, because it looks like part of the post.

Posters name first makes quotes require half a second more to parse imo.

having trouble setting a new bookmark / updating a bookmark's position -- am on zing touch. am I missing something awfully simple?

Is it giving you the error message when you try? If so, just kill it and reinstall from app store.

New version rolling out now. Tiny tweaks for iPhone, but it now supports iPad too. And multitasking, which is way more useful than I thought it'd be. Use it all the time myself.
