I didn't see your bar-code tattoo on your forehead in that picture!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:33 (twenty years ago)

Amanda, you're a shining example of your sex.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:34 (twenty years ago)

It's on my neck, not my forehead. You couldn't see it through the purple turtleneck sweater.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:35 (twenty years ago)

Note: Trader Joe's boxed sweet potato bisque soup is both 1) very tasty 2) very smooth and 3) very filling, for a simple pureed vegetable soup. (I just tried it today.) Thumbs up.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

scratch that "both" - i added an extra.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

I like those TJ boxed soups, too.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Good to know - I haven't opened my soup boxes yet. They don't have to be fridged until after they're open, right?

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:43 (twenty years ago)

Correctamundo.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:44 (twenty years ago)

For the $2.99 or whatever you pay for 'em, you get 3 or 4 good bowls of tasty, low calorie soup. Can't argue with that. These really should be more popular, if people weren't needlessly terrified of bright orange soup. This guy in the kitchen had the balls to sneer at me and ask what "the heck" I was eating. Whatever, hoss -- my lunch is better than that guy's anyday.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:45 (twenty years ago)

dos equis it shall be from this day forward.

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:51 (twenty years ago)

I like the trader joe's box soups. Very good. I only get 2 servings out of them though.

I miss Amy's Split Pea though, I haven't been able to find it lately.

Jeff. (Jeff), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:56 (twenty years ago)

I think I just bought an Amy's Split Pea from the Whole Foods on Ashland last week.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:56 (twenty years ago)

"hoss", awesome!

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:03 (twenty years ago)

It doesn't usually occur to me to buy soup from the store, but I got some good chicken noodle from the deli today, and Maddie made some great beef burgundy last night.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

People are terrified of bright orange soup? I mean, your standard cream of tomato soup is bright red -- what's the difference?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

I don't know -- ask the guy who turned his nose up at my lunch. I just noticed that I've been unbanned from the noise board. How did that happen?

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:10 (twenty years ago)

Someone took pity on you?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

(I could've done it myself, but I forgot that you were banned in the first place.)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

Has anything particularly amusing been going on there? For some reason I only look at it like once a month.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:13 (twenty years ago)

The Noise Board is always amusing. I liked the ddb crush thread.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:14 (twenty years ago)

The noise board seems like the wrong place to talk about my television crush on Rachel Ray.

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:16 (twenty years ago)

I can't figure out what I have to contribute to the noise board. I have added my identification number to my name, since no one can see my neck tattoo.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:17 (twenty years ago)

I've never posted there, for some reason.

Is it standard to have tomatoes in chicken noodle soup?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:19 (twenty years ago)

Not that I know of -- are there tomatoes in yours?

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:20 (twenty years ago)

All over the place!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:20 (twenty years ago)

The noise board seems like the wrong place to talk about my television crush on Rachel Ray.

Let's talk!

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:21 (twenty years ago)

Hey, guys and gals.
I'm excited about chicago's finest hour (tonight).

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:21 (twenty years ago)

There is but one reference to Rachel Ray on the Noise Board -- Ian Johnson asked Scott Seward if he saw her on Martha's Vineyard (where Scott lives) when she was filming there once.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:24 (twenty years ago)

I find her to be fun, spunky, and smart. I like how she can cook and talk at the same time (I know this is a prerequisite for all TV chefs). I was watching her a few weeks ago and she was making a bruschetta and saying, "When I lived in Denmark for three months - don't ask me how that happened - and I was broke, I made this every day for lunch."

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:29 (twenty years ago)

Haha. I've never seen her show(s?). I only know what she looks like because weren't we talking about TV chefs on this thread a few months ago? She does seem somewhat attractive.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:31 (twenty years ago)

I find her cloying.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:32 (twenty years ago)

But inoffensive and avoidable, so I don't really care. I mean, she's not Dick Cheney.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:32 (twenty years ago)

I've never actually seen her show, but her cookbooks are unimpressive.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:32 (twenty years ago)

Me and my buddy watched her show pretty religiously last winter. She's a treat. On TV, at least.

But yeah, a bit cloying.

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:33 (twenty years ago)

Somehow I'm charmed by her cloying side, kind of like the "charming asshole" appeal that some gents must have. I like the fantasy of me and Rachel Ray having Lisa Loeb and her boyfriend over for Scrabble and Schnapps.

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:35 (twenty years ago)

You do know that people are talking about Rachael Ray on the Food Network thread right now, right?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:36 (twenty years ago)

Oh no, I didn't!!

And I know so little about cooking, I wouldn't care if her recipes are actually good (except at dinnertime).

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:37 (twenty years ago)

(Ugh, I don't like that I've used that "You know ... right?" construction twice today.)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:37 (twenty years ago)

I love Rachel Ray. That chick needs bigger cans though.

Jeff. (Jeff), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:46 (twenty years ago)

I don't understand what's up with Giarda whatever though. I mean, Maddie and I and whoever else could get together and have a Nice Rack! (of Ribs) show if that's all it takes.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:50 (twenty years ago)

how could we forget AU GRATIN.

We don't need to talk about potatoes all day. I just ate 10 kalamata olives.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 20:30 (twenty years ago)

I could talk about olives all day. Olives and potatoes.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 20:32 (twenty years ago)
