i watched all four immediately and now find myself without anyone to chat with about them (aside from the gf, but she doesn't enjoy this kind of stuff on the same level as me).

i'm being good and not spoiling anything for anyone.

I'm naively hoping that Danerys can still control her dragons - mr veg wonders if third MIA dragon is the key ie her communicating through it to them when/if it ever returns

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 17:52 (eleven years ago)

feel like its something about her just having confidence and accepting her role as leader and mother of dragons like shes afraid of them so they dont trust her and so forth, she will no doubt have some sort of breakthrough prob via riding around on them

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:12 (eleven years ago)

would be kinda funny if the dragons just took off and never came back. like the whole thing with the dragons was just a shaggy dog story.

ryan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

I just assumed that the dragons have reached their teen years.

A-Hanisi Coates (Leee), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:21 (eleven years ago)

they're going to steal the family car and then crash it.

No way is Mom allowed in their room..

Not to mention their appetites at this age.

Evan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

Tyrion will turn out to be a dragon whisperer.

painfully alive in a drugged and dying culture (DavidM), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

the third dragon flew off to star in the concluding chapter of the hobbit trilogy iirc

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

With all that wine in his belly, his breath will ignite a fire ball when a lit match come to close to his face, winning the dragon's trust.

Evan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:38 (eleven years ago)

too*

Evan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 18:38 (eleven years ago)

Despite the leak, the first episode apparently had 1.4 million more viewers than last year's opener(!?).

If there isn't a scene with Daenerys riding on the back of Drogon, slicing heads off and roasting knights alive, I'm going to be very sad.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:41 (eleven years ago)

Drogon is such a terrible name for a dragon.

Here's my cat, Cot.

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:44 (eleven years ago)

it's in reference to khal drogo, her catatonia-ridden and then mercy-smothered dothraki husband

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:45 (eleven years ago)

which is why "drogo" would do just fine.

dying at "cot"

Evan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:48 (eleven years ago)

ya, i had to explain to my coworkers why I was laughing. not as funny out loud.

AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:52 (eleven years ago)

basically because it would be impossible to yell at the cat without sounding like Sean Connery

Evan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:53 (eleven years ago)

xxp there have to be Ns at the end of almost every targaryen name, esp. if there isn't an -ys at the end, it's like a valryian law idk i don't make the rules man

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:54 (eleven years ago)

one of the only immediate exceptions i can think of is rhaegal, one of her other dragons

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 19:55 (eleven years ago)

So by the third dragon she didn't have the energy to continue to follow her silly naming rules?

Evan, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 20:00 (eleven years ago)

well it's got the "rhae" part covered in that instance, another targaryen naming essential (rhaenys, rhaegar, rhaella, etc.) and is in tribute to her older, deader bro (rhaegar)

that one's def skirting the valryian rules man, v close call

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 20:04 (eleven years ago)

danerys just has to ~find her inner dragon~

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 21:47 (eleven years ago)

and not be such a crybaby, basically

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 21:48 (eleven years ago)

worst part of the episode was the 25-minute long build up to a really boring, short conversation between Missandei and Grey Worm, so that we could learn that no, Grey Worm does not know why unsullied are visiting brothels.

also dario's butt feature

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 21:52 (eleven years ago)

dario has to be the least sexy guy who is supposed to be sexy, ever

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 21:53 (eleven years ago)

I thought Dany's dragons combined the names of her brothers and Drogo with the names of historical dragons?

A-Hanisi Coates (Leee), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 21:57 (eleven years ago)

Dario had such a flat ass I felt embarrassed for him

, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 21:59 (eleven years ago)

been skimping on his deadlifts.

ryan, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 01:31 (eleven years ago)

Dario was pretty much better in every way before they switched actors iirc?
Yea: http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/mp/Pic5RL6F0hil.jpg

video2000, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 07:05 (eleven years ago)

Beardo guy>malformed woman

sonic thedgehod (albvivertine), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 07:08 (eleven years ago)

i liked new-Dario actor in Nashville but he seems out of place in this

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 15:33 (eleven years ago)

I think it's just because the first guy was such a nice fit and established the vibe of the character well that the new guy remains jarring since he looks so different (and carries himself differently, too).

Evan, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

also he's not sexy or cool (or crazy) or mysterious

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:35 (eleven years ago)

i am v much team new daario, old one was a bit cookie-cutter-medieval gut tbrr

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)

*guy

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)

It's like if they recast Grey Worm as a taller, chubbier guy and expected the audience to eventually get used to it. Only thing that helped the Mountain was that the character rarely appeared ep to ep.

Evan, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

daario 1 seemed a bit closer to the book description iirc (blue hair aside)

Evan, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

dario 1 had cool romance novel vibes new guy just looks like hes yr neighbor who rides his motorcycle on weekends

lag∞n, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

he is, but there have been so many of those changes in one way or another that i hardly even think of book descriptions, like in the books varys is bearded and wears weirdass makeup

michel huisman is most definitely a better actor even if he's not harlequin-novel-cover-art material

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

lol! xp

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

wait varys has a beard in the book?

gbx, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 17:51 (eleven years ago)

i couldve sworn i remember reading that in one of them but to be fair it's been some time. i am certain about him wearing lots of visible face powder and makeup in his book description tho.

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

in the books varys (who grew up with an acting troupe) is a master of disguises who sometimes dresses up as characters he plays to gain intelligence or throw a ruse (most notably the jailor), but as the public varys we know the show is pretty close to his description.

Clay, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 19:53 (eleven years ago)

i am super glad they don't have that actor in fake moustaches and canes and bullshit accents bobbling around as varys the master of disguise, that would really really suck

Premise ridiculous. Who have two potato? (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 20:01 (eleven years ago)

drunk nihilist tyrion is pretty amazing, feel like we're underplaying that

slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 04:19 (eleven years ago)

Felt pretty rote to me

, Friday, 17 April 2015 11:08 (eleven years ago)

aka "tyrion"

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 17 April 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

i tried to work from home today but instead i ended up watching the other three leaked episodes. okay now when's the next batch going to be leaked

cis-het shitlord (Merdeyeux), Friday, 17 April 2015 21:32 (eleven years ago)

not soon enough. i need to see the outcome of that last scene!
