In the first episode 'The Good Life', Tom writes a list and then goes and does the things on the list, like that's all there is to it.

maybe it just takes Felicity Kendall for inspiration

love to all blue Bank Holidayers, personally i'll take any kind of absence of employment, even if it does throw the void into sharp relief

Toss-up between here & I am a disaster area tbh

It's too sunny to be blue & I'm on holiday but am sort of bemusedly observing my own unsortedness today

Was drinking in the laundrette earlier & had to be like "dude you don't wanna be drinking in a laundrette c'mon"

Finn McCoolit (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 12:38 (eleven years ago)

Unbeknown to me my phone ringer has been set to silent for about a year

I had wondered why I never heard it ring

Finn McCoolit (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 12:39 (eleven years ago)

week of 'puter action (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 12:40 (eleven years ago)

Probably a laundrette tbf

Finn McCoolit (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 12:41 (eleven years ago)

i think the only people i can communicate with are at the other end of a computer network

but this is probs my fault

tho it seems sometimes that i want some kind of interaction that most people aren't bothered about?

i dunno i love my kids but it's in the nature of kids often to be closely wrapped in their own thing and that's all good, you don't save yrself by grabbing hold of another swimmer and wrestling them down

ow m y head

i contemplated posting exactly EXACTLY those words (including quotation marks for attempt at ironic distance) to the drunk instructions thread recently

this series of posts really resonates with me for some reason

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:12 (eleven years ago)

I'm back at the laundrette. My stuff is in dryer 11 but I pushed the button to start number 2 because I thought it was Roman numerals

Dainger! High Doltage (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:18 (eleven years ago)

machines confuse me sometimes too.

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:21 (eleven years ago)

although they don't scare me really, the way sometimes other things do.

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:28 (eleven years ago)

Oh def

I think in general I'm ok with being a bit shit

Dainger! High Doltage (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:40 (eleven years ago)

I carry a diary everywhere I go it has nothing written in it

Dainger! High Doltage (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:00 (eleven years ago)

i love carrying one tho

i have one that is pretty and green and shiny

small too

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:09 (eleven years ago)

i walked round the park, it was pretty but busy, then i bumped into a friend's wife who told me he'd died in December. fucking cancer. left a beautiful daughter around Han's age too. then i went for a walk round the block, smiled and nodded at loads of strangers. there was a huge queue at the new gelato shop on Newland so i didn't get icecream, went to Lidl instead. got nice food. sun still shining. tomorrow Han's coming round.

we get by, don't we?

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:51 (eleven years ago)

division of bowker (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:52 (eleven years ago)

in Oxfam and like a fool i didn't get it. might have to go back tomorrow.

division of bowker (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:56 (eleven years ago)

Eh I wouldn't spend a lot of time having feelings about it, the world is p much designed to encourage us to focus that way. Resistance and getting free of it where we can is the holy joy.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:58 (eleven years ago)

you mean like breaking the mold?

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:02 (eleven years ago)

Sure! Idk what I mean, whatever it is for you I guess.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:03 (eleven years ago)

I am a contrary motherfucker so I feed on that kind of thing.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:04 (eleven years ago)

resistance is a v. necessary trait and not contrary imo

division of bowker (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:05 (eleven years ago)

:)

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:08 (eleven years ago)

yeah i like it. the world is such a weird place - you need to make it your own! grab a hold of it!

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:11 (eleven years ago)

Did u read that clouds post in what are you into thread, that was great stuff

Dainger! High Doltage (wins), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:15 (eleven years ago)

division of bowker (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:19 (eleven years ago)

no where's the post - can u post?

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:33 (eleven years ago)

i'm into this ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CONFIDENCE kick i've been on lately -- i have spent so much of my life terrified of being seen as queer, weird, ridiculous, etc. but... I AM ALL THOSE THINGS but also realizing (i mean i've sort of known but never really internalized it) that this is the very quality that people who like me appreciate.

also just putting more energy into looking cute/not dressing like a bum/not being fearful of standing out in any way.

like, i've done all the homework you know? i've spent years and years exerting so much effort to not offend, telling myself the lie (and believing it) that i was doing it out of some feeling of obligation to "make society better" and not merely a seeking of approval coupled with a fear of being hurt or singled out. sometimes it's liberating to be... kind of a dick!

tl;dr right now i am into being looking, feeling, being MAGNIFICENT <3

it's really a life ethos. i appreciate it, very much, as an idea. you have to know what you have. to really know what you have to offer.

http://cdn.realscreen.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/river-monsters-3D.jpg?3ccae2";An A-Z of Roguish Britons Through the Ages"

"Roguish Briton" strikes me as something of an oxymoron on the same level as "extreme angler."

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:48 (eleven years ago)

does Briton mean British person?

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 16:03 (eleven years ago)

Donaldson who wrote the book was an interesting guy, ran thru several fortunes, probably a pig to know personally, wrote v funny spoof letters to the great and good in the guise of a retired wet fish dealer called Henry Root.

also i love River Monsters

division of bowker (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 16:03 (eleven years ago)

yeah Briton is the correct form of Britishes

division of bowker (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 16:04 (eleven years ago)

oh nice

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 16:04 (eleven years ago)

Christopher just discovered River Monsters. I don't mind it. It's always a catfish tho rite?
