oh look, this is the Community thread

Team Foxcatcherwatcher (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:43 (eleven years ago)

Community is the Derek Bailey of sitcoms.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:45 (eleven years ago)

lol

Are we still supposed to hate guitar solos?

I'm not a fan of the Grateful Dead and never will be.

©Oz Quiz© (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:46 (eleven years ago)

I only like guitar solos where the dynamics between the notes are explored--you know, like, is this note a good leader? Or can this note deal with his best friend dating a female note? Or why is this note racist?

Your right i am an idiot who could never enjoy the genius doodlings of writer mc writerson. Enjoy the Artistic Integrity of a bunch of adults defending a dog's college graduation.

more like dumbmunity

ienjoyhotdogs, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 21:32 (eleven years ago)

oh I hope they spend a lot of time on relationships between the characters. that was always the funniest part of the show

I don't mean things like Troy and Britta or Jeff and Annie, I mean like when Jeff and Shirley would wander off and start bitching about the rest of the group, or the rivalry between Britta and Shirley, or y'know Troy and Abed doing anything. You got to know how different pairings of characters would react to a situation, things that made it a believable group dynamic and also acted in the service of the comedy. Seems pretty obvious that Harmon put a lot of effort into defining all that early on before taking the series off-piste.

This last episode felt like a sequence of characters just getting up and doing their own thing one after another and felt disconnected and disjointed and not very funny as a result. Britta's drunk and wearing someone else's pants? That's the joke?

Matt DC, Thursday, 26 March 2015 09:08 (eleven years ago)

that was pretty bad

maybe not dozens-of-weird-rage-filled-posts-from-adam bad, but still

mookieproof, Friday, 27 March 2015 00:14 (eleven years ago)

Hah yeah. I'm done with this show and anything else Dan Harmon does. He's a hack and a bully.

©Oz Quiz© (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 27 March 2015 01:43 (eleven years ago)

sure, don't watch the funniest show on tv

Mordy, Friday, 27 March 2015 01:50 (eleven years ago)

I don't know which show you're talking about, Mordy, but it's not this one.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 March 2015 02:41 (eleven years ago)

Too bad he didn't give us a link or something

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Friday, 27 March 2015 13:49 (eleven years ago)

oh lol the stylesheet I'm using doesn't make links apparent. will be changing.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 March 2015 14:40 (eleven years ago)

ep 4 easily the best so far imo

some dude, Thursday, 2 April 2015 20:49 (eleven years ago)

yeah this was a pretty good

rap is dad (it's a boy!), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:23 (eleven years ago)

I enjoyed 3 and 4 quite a bit actually.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:24 (eleven years ago)

It's been getting dramatically better starting with ep 3. Ep 5 the best so far; loved Chang's line about, "I was their Spanish teacher; then they couldn't figure out anything interesting to do with me" or something.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:32 (eleven years ago)

"jesus WEPT" had me in tears. Enjoyed first few Eps. But I really don't care about any of these characters anymore, they're just ciphers for the next joke.

NotKnowPotato (stevie), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 17:06 (eleven years ago)

Like, none of them interact as if they actually know each other.

NotKnowPotato (stevie), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 17:06 (eleven years ago)

yeah this is in some ways more like watching a well-rehearsed improv troupe than, like, a show about humans at this point

Clay, Wednesday, 15 April 2015 19:19 (eleven years ago)

Yahoo Screen just launched a new show from Paul Feig starring a bunch of commercial actors, plus Joel and Trace from MST3K. Anyone seen it yet?

Like, none of them interact as if they actually know each other.

I've been enjoying the petty Annie v Britta flatmate rivalry (especially the fact that Jeff has nothing to do with it), but yeah, this.

Matt DC, Thursday, 16 April 2015 10:17 (eleven years ago)

the last episode with the email leaks was a little better on that front

Nhex, Friday, 17 April 2015 19:28 (eleven years ago)

I have had zero inclination to go back to this show after the first two episodes

DJP, Friday, 17 April 2015 19:29 (eleven years ago)

I watched the third, didn't think it was measurably better than the first two, have thrown in the towel.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 17 April 2015 21:01 (eleven years ago)

this was always a show that I wanted to end after Season 3 or so because I wanted it to go out on top. Quality over quantity. bleh.

gonna check this out now. i'm pretty annoyed that Yahoo hasn't put any ads for this show on Community, considering it might actually appeal to Community viewers more than the show they do run ads for constantly, Sin City Saints starring Tom Arnold.

some dude, Saturday, 18 April 2015 20:52 (eleven years ago)

Watched the first half or so of Other Space this weekend. it's cute, very MST3K (obviously), like a very low budget live action version of Futurama at points. Not amazing, but fun enough and it's some good potential. Really like the whole cast.

Nhex, Monday, 20 April 2015 19:30 (eleven years ago)

yeah i watched the first two eps of Other Space over the weekend, they were very fun!

bonkers candle ancestors (reddening), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 20:21 (eleven years ago)

weird to think that joel shows up in two shows I'm watching now (steven universe being the other).

bonkers candle ancestors (reddening), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 20:23 (eleven years ago)

car scene with the child cybercrime expert made it worth sitting through about 40 minutes of not very funny community.

erry red flag (f. hazel), Wednesday, 22 April 2015 04:00 (eleven years ago)

after being entertained but utterly uninvested this most recent episode is the first i've really liked, and the first where it's felt there's been any kind of real group dynamic to latch on to

cis-het shitlord (Merdeyeux), Friday, 24 April 2015 01:52 (eleven years ago)

i mostly enjoyed this completely ridiculous episode abt the movie despite myself

Clay, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 08:04 (eleven years ago)

-just watched the first episode of Other Space and liked it
-there is totes some really great Community moments this season; things we would of normally quoted a lot more by now

The Once-ler, Friday, 1 May 2015 13:58 (eleven years ago)

xpppp
Steven Universe has moved to the top rank in my Cartoon Network lineup. so much respect for that show
It's a little late now and also unrelated but since 'Over The Garden Wall' only got mentioned once in another thread, I'll go ahead here and back up the sentiment that it is one of the best things CN has ever produced.

The Once-ler, Friday, 1 May 2015 14:05 (eleven years ago)

Mordy, Friday, 1 May 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)

two weeks pass...

Haven't been feeling this season much at all but I really enjoyed the giant hand one. The scene with the couple at the end was incredible.

Disliked the Star Wars one a lot, it felt very Season 4 in its combination of being underwritten and also trying too hard.

Matt DC, Sunday, 17 May 2015 20:03 (eleven years ago)

I watched a bunch of SNL videos today that were supposedly the best of this season. Every time one of the videos ended, the newest episode of Community began to autoplay in the video player. I guess that's one way to get people to watch this garbage!

polyphonic, Tuesday, 19 May 2015 22:33 (eleven years ago)

Has any critic who used to vocally ride for this show come out and said "I was wrong; this show sucks" yet? Feels like even most of its biggest proponents washed their hands of it long ago, but it would be really satisfying to hear just one admit it's always been gimmicky garbage

Evan R, Wednesday, 20 May 2015 03:06 (eleven years ago)

that would be pretty dishonest

Nhex, Wednesday, 20 May 2015 05:55 (eleven years ago)

maybe they could also whip themselves or cut off a pinky

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Wednesday, 20 May 2015 14:02 (eleven years ago)

if it's always been garbage then why are you posting here during season 6 on a thread that rarely gets bumped. what the fuck do you care?

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Wednesday, 20 May 2015 14:04 (eleven years ago)

I realized the other day that I missed maybe 3-4 episodes of this season. Watched one last night (something about an RV and a giant hand), and it was ok (better than anything in S4, not as good as S5), but aggressively reinforced how much Shirley and Troy are needed. It really just made me want to watch a S1-S3 episode.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 20 May 2015 14:24 (eleven years ago)

this yahoo season is not amazing (at least not so far - i'm up to ep 7) but it turns out that i can enjoy watching anything that has cpt david anderson in it

Mordy, Wednesday, 27 May 2015 00:31 (eleven years ago)

The wedding episode was terrible, but it had O-Lan Jones as Garrett's mom! And this season's paintball episode was pretty solid.

erry red flag (f. hazel), Friday, 29 May 2015 16:13 (eleven years ago)

internet dudes are posting that Annie's Missing Lover gif everywhere, who'd have thunk it

never heard of this Mark Knobfler bloke (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 31 May 2015 00:59 (eleven years ago)
