Game of Thrones show runners confirm new seasons will spoil events in upcoming books
― bizarro gazzara, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 14:14 (nine years ago) link
Luckily, we've been talking about this with George for a long time, ever since we saw this could happen, and we know where things are heading. And so we'll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place where George is going; there might be a few deviations along the route, but we're heading towards the same destination. I kind of wish that there were some things we didn't have to spoil, but we're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on ... and that's what we're going to do.
I'm glad. The show is much better than the books. Now Martin can focus on the plot twists and not waste his time embedding them in thousands of pages of purple prose

But aren't a lot of the best and funniest lines taken from the books? Maybe George Will script more of the show.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 14:25 (nine years ago) link
Winds Of Winter and A Dream Of Spring reminds me so much of Color Of Spring and Spirit Of Eden that I keep subconsciously anticipating a late Talk Talk flavoured ending.

Maybe George Will script more of the show.
oof, unfortunate capital W there!
Josh in Chicago, can you pull off a George Will game of thrones pastiche?
― demonic mnevice (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 14:32 (nine years ago) link
George Will might have scripted that rape scene with Jaime and Cersei

I have not got a clue about George RR Martin's politics, if any, but flags get waved in his books while he writes about hard times. He is no craven, and the recitation of beheadings and other problems always seems punctuated by a bleak, dire warning: "Winter is coming."
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 15:51 (nine years ago) link
(I think the only George Will I've ever read is his boneheaded Springsteen review.)

GRRM is a lib
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 15:54 (nine years ago) link
That was my almost word for word echo of the George Will Bruce essay. "I have not got a clue about Bruce Springsteen's politics," etc.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 15:58 (nine years ago) link
Though of course GRRM totally reminds me of John Milius. http://cdn-static.denofgeek.com/sites/denofgeek/files/styles/insert_main_wide_image/public/john_milius.jpg?itok=pNpaI7ed

i maintain that they shd just release entire runs of a show on the same day its better in a lot of ways and in fact there shd be infinite episodes of any show
― lag∞n, Sunday, 12 April 2015 16:32 (nine years ago) link
OMG THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER/WORSE/DIFF THAN THE BOOKS
― lag∞n, Sunday, 12 April 2015 16:33 (nine years ago) link
Review copies? Why is there review copies? I thought tv critics watched everything with the rest of us, apart from special premieres of a first episode that only a relative few will see along with the big fans.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 12 April 2015 17:27 (nine years ago) link
early reviews hype the show. not that this one really needs hype i guess but why not
― head clowning instructor (art), Sunday, 12 April 2015 17:49 (nine years ago) link
I was wondering why there were suddenly a number of episodes available.Thought it might be like a Netflix multiple episodes released at the same time thing like Orange is the New Black seems to do & I think Daredevil just did. Or is that another case of this?
― Stevolende, Sunday, 12 April 2015 19:00 (nine years ago) link
This is quite a spoiler sensitive thing so I don't see what good giving critics more episodes is going to do, especially if it increases the risk of leaking.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 12 April 2015 19:15 (nine years ago) link
It just takes the pressure off of the first episode representing the entire season. Sopranos always screened the first four episodes for critics, to give a sense of the overall tone/plot/etc for the new season.
