I realized when I was watching this v stoned that Jessa kind of alarms me, like I have a v mild anxiety when her character is present in a scene

bcz she seems like such a dangerous and unstable and frightening and actually potentially damaging person to have in yr life

she is awful this season

like marnie is always always awful, but jessa seems on a mission to just shit on everything this year

dunham was on scandal last night, which i dont ordinarily watch but did just for lols to see if she has any acting range beyond the hannah/tiny furniture persona

she decidedly does not and was very bad, a considerable accomplishment given how low the bar seems to be on scandal for everyone not named kerry washington

I thought Jessa throwing the bottle of wine and then being a total asshole to those guys who weren't even mean abt it was sooooo NAGL and I super hope she starts growing up/acknowledging that other ppl around her exist

liked the pregnancy/delivery stuff in the finale (guess they had to give Jessa something non-evil to do this season). Ray/Marnie thing still totally unbelievable to me, also lol @Pfork and Brooklyn Vegan et al being into Marnie's sub-Lilith Fair crapola

I'm honestly more annoyed at the New Yorker for thinking it was worth printing than Dunham for writing it

Loved the last few episodes. Some corny business in the finale (cue miracle of childbirth, earnest montage music) but worth it to finally move the characters forward and make even Jessa sympathetic. They've driven the "these people are terrible" approach into the ground so I can forgive a little sentimentality. Favourite bit was the woman who offers Shosh the Tokyo job. Hai!

She was GREAT!!!! Aidy Bryant is a godsend and needs to be everywhere all of the time.

i basically assume everything she says/does at this pt is said/done to elicit some kind of dramatic reaction which is unfortunate bc i think it is a lazy approach to creating art and it devalues her work generally

Really liked the finale, even the maudlin shit with Ray and Marnie, this show is solid pretty much any time it's not the Lena Dunham Hour as it turns out.

Lotta good moments in the finale, good balance of 'lol these ppl are awful' and emotional stuff that actually worked. Cut to 6 months later too abrupt.

Fave bit was Shosh saying "--in Japan!" and wiggling her chopsticks. Shosh wins this season overall.
