I realized when I was watching this v stoned that Jessa kind of alarms me, like I have a v mild anxiety when her character is present in a scene

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 19 March 2015 17:09 (eleven years ago)

bcz she seems like such a dangerous and unstable and frightening and actually potentially damaging person to have in yr life

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 19 March 2015 17:10 (eleven years ago)

she is awful this season

IHeartMedia, the giant broadcaster formerly known as Clear Channel, (stevie), Thursday, 19 March 2015 17:13 (eleven years ago)

like marnie is always always awful, but jessa seems on a mission to just shit on everything this year

Jessa is like Skeletor-level self-aware I AM EVIL evil.

I'm glad they left that part out of the opening scene.

slothroprhymes, Friday, 20 March 2015 19:46 (eleven years ago)

will be a blu-ray extra.

dunham was on scandal last night, which i dont ordinarily watch but did just for lols to see if she has any acting range beyond the hannah/tiny furniture persona

she decidedly does not and was very bad, a considerable accomplishment given how low the bar seems to be on scandal for everyone not named kerry washington

slothroprhymes, Friday, 20 March 2015 19:49 (eleven years ago)

I thought Jessa throwing the bottle of wine and then being a total asshole to those guys who weren't even mean abt it was sooooo NAGL and I super hope she starts growing up/acknowledging that other ppl around her exist

Also xposting from the Scandal thread but this is basically like watching a continuation of the episode where she puts on a wig and tries to role play with Adam in a bar

even my sister, an avowed Ray skeptic, had to admit his speech in the finale was a great moment for the series/humanity

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Monday, 23 March 2015 04:51 (eleven years ago)

omg @ that scandal clip lol

It's like a digital short from the future when Dunham hosts SNL. (Or has she already? IDK)

Don A Henley And Get Over It (C. Grisso/McCain), Monday, 23 March 2015 21:12 (eleven years ago)

she already has

during her book tour she mentioned being obsessed with shonda rhimes

diamonddave85 (diamonddave85), Monday, 23 March 2015 21:36 (eleven years ago)

liked the pregnancy/delivery stuff in the finale (guess they had to give Jessa something non-evil to do this season). Ray/Marnie thing still totally unbelievable to me, also lol @Pfork and Brooklyn Vegan et al being into Marnie's sub-Lilith Fair crapola

Οὖτις, Monday, 23 March 2015 22:33 (eleven years ago)

What an odd aimless grim boring season.

nashwan, Monday, 23 March 2015 22:52 (eleven years ago)

yeah it just felt really sloppy. also lol @ "6 months later" title card that is some lazy shit

Οὖτις, Monday, 23 March 2015 22:53 (eleven years ago)

what made the teacher dude fall for Hannah in the end? guess we'll never know

nashwan, Monday, 23 March 2015 23:13 (eleven years ago)

Yeah jeez that went by fast and nothing happened, how is it over already?

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 23 March 2015 23:20 (eleven years ago)

cannot imagine anything worse in life than jessa as a therapist

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 01:51 (eleven years ago)

wtf I enjoyed the hell out of this season, it leaned hard on the funny, which it is good at

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 01:52 (eleven years ago)

i liked the hannah/adam scene, and i thought this season was kinda patchy but ok

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 01:56 (eleven years ago)

The series overall was mundane yet still unbelivable. I have no idea why I'm watching this.

drash, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 05:16 (eleven years ago)

I'm honestly more annoyed at the New Yorker for thinking it was worth printing than Dunham for writing it

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 05:26 (eleven years ago)

Loved the last few episodes. Some corny business in the finale (cue miracle of childbirth, earnest montage music) but worth it to finally move the characters forward and make even Jessa sympathetic. They've driven the "these people are terrible" approach into the ground so I can forgive a little sentimentality. Favourite bit was the woman who offers Shosh the Tokyo job. Hai!

She was GREAT!!!! Aidy Bryant is a godsend and needs to be everywhere all of the time.

9. This is because he comes from a culture in which mothers focus every ounce of their attention on their offspring and don’t acknowledge their own need for independence as women. They are sucked dry by their children, who ultimately leave them as soon as they find suitable mates.

uh

well now I am pissed off

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:44 (eleven years ago)

like it's gross enough to compare your boyfriend to a dog idk why you gotta throw "Jewish" in there except to make some anti-semitic joeks about being cheap/mama's boy etc

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 16:19 (eleven years ago)

I like this show but LD seems dumb as shit tbh

Like a genuinely dense and stupid person

IHeartMedia, the giant broadcaster formerly known as Clear Channel, (stevie), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 16:21 (eleven years ago)

i basically assume everything she says/does at this pt is said/done to elicit some kind of dramatic reaction which is unfortunate bc i think it is a lazy approach to creating art and it devalues her work generally

head clowning instructor (art), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 16:35 (eleven years ago)

saying this w the whole memoir controversy in mind.

head clowning instructor (art), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)

Not gonna approve of what she said, but isn't she also Jewish?

camp event (suzy), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 16:55 (eleven years ago)

Dunham has described herself as feeling "very culturally Jewish, although that's the biggest cliché for a Jewish woman to say”; her father is Protestant, and her mother is Jewish.

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 16:56 (eleven years ago)

Really liked the finale, even the maudlin shit with Ray and Marnie, this show is solid pretty much any time it's not the Lena Dunham Hour as it turns out.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:17 (eleven years ago)

Lotta good moments in the finale, good balance of 'lol these ppl are awful' and emotional stuff that actually worked. Cut to 6 months later too abrupt.

Fave bit was Shosh saying "--in Japan!" and wiggling her chopsticks. Shosh wins this season overall.
