Yeah, man, what a pro. I think she's done a lot of game shows, going way back, struck just the right note. I'm normally kind of put off by aggressively ice-breaking, fun-starting people but it was exactly what you need at 8 AM in a conference room, nervous, surrounded by a bunch of nervous strangers.

oh man so awesome

it's tomorrow night!! so weird watching this week's episodes, since i saw them from the studio audience, and met the contestants and stuff! lots of weird stress/excitement reactions coming back.

just a reminder to anybody watching, jeopardy does air at different times in different markets, so if you are on the later side, consider avoiding this thread for reasons of !!!!SPOILERS!!! on this very exciting half hour of broadcast television. that is all.

Happy to find out you weren't one of the contestants yesterday who got zilch on Canadian Cities--actually a news story up here. (I think I only would have got one of the five questions myself, so I don't know why people are so aghast. They weren't exactly giveaways.)

When I lived and worked in Canada, I was constantly told by my friends and coworkers how little Americans knew about Canada. They would shut up right quick when I asked then to identify anything in the States that wasn't New York, California, Texas, or the location of the first outlet mall over the border.

it's funny how these things really come down to the particular mix of contestants in that particular episode. i was squirming in the audience when that shakespearean art category came up, thinking "damn, why couldn't that have waited til i'm on!" at lunch, nobody agreed with me, but several people, it turned out, had been internally SCREAMING for the canadian cities. such is the luck of jeopardy, w/ final jeopardy only the most dramatic case - - - one person's freebie category is another person's "just gonna put the buzzer down" moment.

yeah, i agree. i guessed on all of them, and by luck got three right. i got the moose javian one wrong but in hindsight i feel that one would have been the easiest for canadians probably.

Kate: I think you're probably right in general, but then there are people like me who know way more about the States than my own country. Culture and politics, anyway; I'm not that great on geography with either country.

I got Banff right. I might have got the Montreal Olympics one right, with a few extra seconds tacked on. None of the other three.

I got all but Montreal, but, like you said, with another few seconds tacked on coulda gotten it.
