Some costume spoilers there but right now I'm starting to think if I have an overall season favorite it might be a tossup between Max and Ginger. But that said...still very early days yet and honestly nobody is totally standing out for me yet as a definite winner. Whole lotta midrange.

Rooting for Max because she's the hometown girl, but I really want her to blow the weird factor out waaaaay further (the same way I felt about Milk tbh).

Katya is still up there for me even after last week's episode. I think (hope) it was just an early mistep à la Raven and she will come back stronger and last until the top 3. She seems polished enough and funny enough to get there. Take me to the intersection of glamour and comedy!

A friend just asked if this season seemed a little painful to watch. And I can't say I entirely disagree! There seems to have been a bit of a tone shift I still can't entirely put my finger on.

Feels like the last season of The Golden Girls.

Now since you're going there -- I remember the show had been renewed through this season, but hadn't heard anything beyond that. I half wonder if this is all leading to this being...it?

IMO it always takes a couple of episodes to get really going and for me to get attached to the new queens. I think they put a lot of effort in making last week and this week's challenges entertaining and fun. Maybe our expectations are just really high.

I'm still adjusting to the new Untucked format though. I miss Ru's narration.

I kinda like the new untucked. feels less stagey, a little more natural where they just talk without ALL the edits & sipping and glancing etc

I kind of loved that lol. I understand that it's more real, but I think the old Untucked made me laugh more. (x-post)

Some thoughts about last night's episode:

- Max was a great team leader, so happy that she won. Still top 3 for me.
- The costumes for the main challenge were beautiful. I wonder if they were provided by the production or if they were the queen's own.
- Loved Mama Ru getting all Tyra Banks on team Kennedy's boring ass.
- Trixie's bearded runway looked fucking amazing.
- The lipsynch was limp as hell. I almost thought Ru would send both home.

yeah Kennedy can turn it the fuck out , but she was a total yawn! idk what the hell that was

Max's MTQ video was so terrible, it completely undercut any expectations I had from her, but she's slowly turning me around. Her looks have been gorge, but improv (re: Snatch Game) might be a test for her. (But then the THEATRE background might come in handy.)

To expand on my nu-Untucked == radical comment, I love how it's breaking the fourth-wall right now, which is something that reality tv shows are anathema to. It's not just the stagehands and PAs we see on camera -- when they talk to the eliminated queens who are out of their drag and out of their personas, and given the nature of this show, it *feels* so naked. It's a remarkable technique they've hit on, and has a rather powerful, elegiac effect, IMO. Might not be sustainable, though...

I kinda liked the lip sync! Jasmine particularly, but I'm just a sucker for good dancing.

Love Ginger's unabashed shadiness.
Kennedy loves to talk, which means more dramas, which means I love her.
Hahah loving the bifurcation of the pretteez, Fame is the good pretty, Violet is the evil pretty.
Jaidynn turning out to be a lot of fun, i.e. quotable.

Does anyone notice how Max's absurd 1930's vocal affectations seem to drift in and out like even in the same sentence? It's as if she has to remind herself "oh yeah that's how I'm talking right now, whoops"

I went back and rewatched Raja + Raven's Ruview from the first episode...those two are so good together, I fking love them.

Jaidynn's a kick, more hilariously boisterous than world-wise maybe, and I'm not sure about her breakdown moment in this week's episode. But I can see her lasting for a while.

“Over 6 million people have watched the show in some way, shape or form across all of our platforms just this season alone, the three episodes that were in,” McCarthy pointed out. “The audience continues to build and the demand for it and the content is so great, why not take advantage of all that energy right now? World of Wonder is such an amazing partner to work with and Ru that we want to get out there while it’s hot and get casting for the next season.”

Well, guess that answers that question!

It's fun...but it's not perfect. There have been some moments throughout where you can sense a lot of distance not necessarily being bridged.
