Don't get me wrong, I LOVe this fucking kid.

Josiah.

nickalicious, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

I can't stand the nerdy kid who sang the goofball song the first night.

nickalicious, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

*SPOILER IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING*

I'd heard that Josiah wouldn't get through, and I'm not completely surprised, but still seems like a bad decision. Guy could have been a sales hit, I think.

Tape Store, Thursday, 14 February 2008 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

WTF?!?!?!

That last guy they chose?!?!?! HE SUCKS

Tape Store, Thursday, 14 February 2008 01:58 (eighteen years ago)

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 14 February 2008 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

Tape Store, Thursday, 14 February 2008 04:04 (eighteen years ago)

I feel like i'm missing someone.

Tape Store, Thursday, 14 February 2008 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, can I just officially declare my hatred of Carly?

-Overrated vocals
-Fug
-Should have qualified anyway
-This isn't IRISH IDOL!!
-Has a tattoo of Amy Winehouse on her shoulder (?)

musically, Thursday, 14 February 2008 05:31 (eighteen years ago)

AGREED!!!!

Tape Store, Thursday, 14 February 2008 06:05 (eighteen years ago)

Last night's episode was the first episode of the season I bothered to watch. Really excited for the real start of the show next Tuesday. Based entirely on the chair show, seems like an excessive number of rockers and kids this year, and a proportionally small set of R&B divas?

Greg Fanoe, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, unfortunately.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:55 (eighteen years ago)

I really like Ramiele Malubay, she's myfavorite going into this.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:56 (eighteen years ago)

I really don't like any of them this year, they all seem as uninspiring as a John McCain speech.

Nicole, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

I missed all of their auditions but my wife was basically like "any one of them could win if their voices hold up".

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

Youtube your favorites:
Asia'h Epperson - I'm Going Down

Have any top 12 contestants ever come from the MaryJ/Keyshia school of emoting?

Tape Store, Friday, 15 February 2008 05:30 (eighteen years ago)

and a proportionally small set of R&B divas?

danny noriega!

he could quite possibly become my favorite constant ever. cutest guy ever on the show too. makes me want to be gay!

Lovelace, Saturday, 16 February 2008 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

i am so bummed emo car kid didnt get through :( :( :( someone needs to give him his own show where they follow him around in his car getting all emo about not knowing where his next gig/meal is coming from.

gr8080, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 10:12 (eighteen years ago)

also R.I.P. Cardin (from the final 2 girls) you are so pretty and sweet and i wish you were my girlfiend. ;)

gr8080, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 10:17 (eighteen years ago)

my money says janis joplin nurse is the first in a n00dz scandal

gr8080, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 10:18 (eighteen years ago)

david - decent voice, boring song/performance
chikezie - there's something there, but not during this song
dane cook - didn't like it
jason - blah
robbie - better than I expected
david arch - seemed a bit nervous, but i thought it was really great
danny - acts and looks like he walked right out of "america's next top model", but he rocked it
luke - poor cannon fodder
colton - poor cannon fodder part 2, although he was fun
garrett - atrocious, he doesn't seem comfortable in his own skin
jason dreadlocks - not bad, the guitar and minimal arrangement really helped him out
michael - Such a pro, so even-keeled and confident

janis joplin nurse seemed incredibly bored watching the guys the whole time.

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

We keep people are saying that this year's talent is the best yet...

musically, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 04:01 (eighteen years ago)

I put all my money on that david kid.

CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 04:44 (eighteen years ago)

the kid - david - is great!

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 04:56 (eighteen years ago)

fuck. i fell for david tonight. i just watched his previous performances and i even like them, too. so i retract all previous hate statements. i guess i should be excited?

Four easy, predictable cuts:
chikezie
jason
luke
garrett (ROFFLES @ the lack of laughter/applause)

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 05:57 (eighteen years ago)

2 nilsson songs, yeah?

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 05:58 (eighteen years ago)

i taped the show and, halfway through, went up to my mom and said, 'man, i want Danny Noriega to move on.'

She was like, 'who's that?'

And i said, 'the gay kid who did the elvis song'

Now i understand why she was confused.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 05:59 (eighteen years ago)

would like to see Michael perform this

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:01 (eighteen years ago)

I thought Jason Dreadlocks (can this be his official thread name?) was the best of the night. Fuck you Randy!! Michael, Danny and David were great too. David is so adorable, after his post-song interview with Ryan I turned into a big pile of goo. How cute is he? He's totally adorable without being precocious, aka he will be around for approximately forever.

Did anyone notice that Carly was missing from the dawg pound? Maybe she got deported lololol foreigners

musically, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:04 (eighteen years ago)

But Castro is a great last name.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

is david the leif garret one? he roolz.

chaki, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

No, that's Garrett.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

David Archuleta performing En Vogue on Star Search: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ8uLFOwmtY

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:39 (eighteen years ago)

that kid reminds me of me in high school, but cuter and more talanted

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:43 (eighteen years ago)

the part that really made me like him as a person: when Ryan mentioned adoption and David said, "i'm 17!"

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:44 (eighteen years ago)

Jason Castro and Robbie Carrico, both of whom I expected to hate, were my two favorite of the night. David was good but really cheesy. Lots of boringness, a little bit underwhelming. But there is talent here.

Greg Fanoe, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

David kind of reminded me of the OC's Oliver. He's going to snap and lock you in his dressing room.

Yerac, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

Idolator referenced Google Trends in its AI recap, but here's every single idol-related search that made the top 100 yesterday:

1. leif garrett
6. what a day for a daydream
9. so happy together
11. suspicious minds
12. one is the loneliest number
13. breaking up is hard to do
17. robbie carrico
19. jason castro
22. everybody s talking at me
26. danny noriega gay
27. i love you more today than yesterday
36. american idol voting
37. moon river
51. jailhouse rock
65. michael hutchins
66. dial idol
84. peter frampton
96. american idol phone number

Some kids are going to be really confused when they google "michael hutchins".

musically, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 16:13 (eighteen years ago)

I liked the part where Simon called out Robbie Carrico. If you listened to his performance without looking at him it really did stand out as a competent boy-band type performance, there really wasn't anything rock about it.

Danny Noriega is like the bastard love child of Jessica Alba and Johnny Weir. I hated his performance but I hope he stays in it because he's one of the only ones that doesn't seem totally boring.

Nicole, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 16:22 (eighteen years ago)

The only thing "rock" about that douchbag is his hair. I have no idea why I watch this show, but I'm addicted. I almost popped a bottle of Moet when the dork who lives in his car got cut.

Is that Chikeze guy auditioning for Love Boat?

Bill Magill, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:45 (eighteen years ago)

lol i googled leif garrett last nite

gr8080, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:56 (eighteen years ago)

I googled 'leif garrett' and 'danny noriega gay'

Tape Store, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

I am totally lolling at Leif Garrett because I missed everything except the recap so my first comment to my wife was "Who is Leif Garrett?"

HI DERE, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

(upon seeing that kid in the recaps, I mean; my wife thinks she looks like her sister's (female) partner)

HI DERE, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

To me he looks like Jimmy Page with Robert Plant's hair (70s versions, obv). I feel bad for the kid; he got zero exposure until he made the top 24 in the last Hollywood ep. He gets my pity vote.

musically, Thursday, 21 February 2008 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

xposted from teenpop: There haven't been any essential, blow you away performances on Idol yet this year. The first week had the theme of 60's songs, and most people played it pretty safe, though the talent level was pretty strong overall. My personal favorite performance of the week was Ramiele Mulabay's performance of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" (which should be up on youtube within the next couple of days). Judges seemed to prefer "Light My Fire" by Michael Johns and Carly Smithson's version of "Shadow of My Smile" (a song which I personally have never heard).

Greg Fanoe, Thursday, 21 February 2008 03:24 (eighteen years ago)

Tape Store, Thursday, 21 February 2008 04:52 (eighteen years ago)
