@sullydish was one of the most irritating blowhards I ever worked with. Advocated the Iraq War then said AIDS was over. Now has own site.

the obviousness of some of the statements - i.e. ""Viral Media" is all White People. Sometimes sites let black journalists write for them, but they never really feel included" is not exactly a truthbomb, albeit obviously a depressing statement - is mildly suspect but other than that idk why the account's fakeness is blatantly obvious
not to say it absolutely couldn't have been fake, of course. the daily dot piece links to the story about the goldman elevator guy who was not a goldman sachs employee, after all
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:32 (eleven years ago)
either way, was a somewhat entertaining follow while it lasted
it just has no actual insider facts / is making vague accusations based on the popular perception of the sites / claims to have worked with every new media property in the wolrd

i remember at one point the account (whoever it was) tweeted something about "among folks at gawker i worked with, have to say sam biddle was a pretty good guy" or something to that effect, in the midst of a gawker hatespew, and biddle immediately responded with "FUCK OFF," i loled
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)
hah
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:43 (eleven years ago)
this is so petty of me but i don't think i could ever take a guy named 'biddle' seriously
― Mordy, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:43 (eleven years ago)
Biddle is an old-money Philly name
I've always wondered if Sam was from that line
― 龜, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:45 (eleven years ago)

granted this is from the pando hit piece about valleywag, so, duh bias also pando is gross as discussed upthread, but here be some background:
...if you’re going to wage a fake class war, then, Sam Faulkner Biddle is the perfect fake class warrior for the job. Long before he got his gig wailing about “spoiled brat” tech founders who owe their success to their fathers, Biddle gained entry to the prestigious Johns Hopkins university with no help whatsoever from his own father, the Pulitzer prize winning journalist — and Johns Hopkins lecturer — Wayne Biddle.
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:50 (eleven years ago)
pando publishes the war nerd so i give them a pass for that
said wayne biddle is from baltimore, apparently - cornell graduate, extremely successful, worked at the NYT, harper's, et. al.
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)
not to get off track but the war nerd is like the worst person in the world, with the worst name
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)
I guess it's easy to clown on 'Biddle' when you have a hilarious Johnny Depp film named after you
― mh, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:53 (eleven years ago)

― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:55 (eleven years ago)
i think i knew who the war nerd was at one pt; it's just one of the exile/pando dudes (obv)
― goole, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:56 (eleven years ago)
The name "Mordechai" is of uncertain origin but is considered identical to the name Marduka or Marduku attested as the name of officials in the Persian court in thirty texts (the Persepolis Texts) from the period of Xerxes I and his father Darius, and may refer to up to four individuals, one of which might have served as the prototype for the biblical Mordecai. The name is commonly interpreted as a theophoric name referring to the god Marduk with the understanding that it means "[servant/follower/devotee] of Marduk" in Aramaic. (The Book of Daniel contains similar accounts of Jews living in exile in Babylonia being assigned names relating to Babylonian gods.) Some suggest that as Marduk was a war-god, the expression "[servant] of Marduk" may simply denote a warrior - the popular translation of "warrior" is commonly found in naming dictionaries. Others note that Marduk was the creator in Babylonian mythology whence the term might have been understood by Jews to mean simply "[servant] of God".
