can you really see someone's anus in these things? asking for a friend.

how's life, Thursday, 12 February 2015 20:42 (eleven years ago)

yes, but you really need to get your face right in there

Free Me's Electric Trumpet (Moodles), Thursday, 12 February 2015 20:45 (eleven years ago)

not touching that last post, but fyi the slim goodbody album is pretty good, especially "Down Down Down," "Be What You Want to Be," "One Is Connected To Two," and my mother's favorite, "The Brain."

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 12 February 2015 21:32 (eleven years ago)

it's not camel toe, it's, uh...

mh, Thursday, 12 February 2015 21:51 (eleven years ago)

with poorly made leggings/yoga pants, sometimes the anus is exposed
it's a pubic health issue

groundless round (La Lechera), Thursday, 12 February 2015 22:38 (eleven years ago)

people should be naked if they want. feel very negatively toward even the theoretical prospect of someone doing five years for yoga pants.

Treeship, Friday, 13 February 2015 02:35 (eleven years ago)

however parachute pants = throw away the key

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Friday, 13 February 2015 06:12 (eleven years ago)

now I'm wondering if any of these are the tights Je55e copped to wearing under his dress pants in the cold winter days

I opened this thread just to Ctrl-F to see if I'd posted in it and I find my private conversation being shared. (I was wearing tights b/c I couldn't find long Johns and I saw an ep. of Law & Order where a construction worker wore panty hose instead of long johns.)

a girl with colitis (Je55e), Friday, 13 February 2015 21:19 (eleven years ago)

No shame in that game. Tights are great under dress pants, especially if you can get hold of some 120 denier tights that are super thick.

And not control top (probably).

I was wondering about that because I was considering them too!

sheesh

mh, Friday, 13 February 2015 21:58 (eleven years ago)

Just remember if you're buying tights that you need to look at the height as well as the weight when determining the size, so even if you're slim, you may need "queen sized" tights if you're a tall drink of water.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Friday, 13 February 2015 22:03 (eleven years ago)

Yeh my tights were way too tight.

GFY mh

a girl with colitis (Je55e), Friday, 13 February 2015 22:54 (eleven years ago)

you should try these leggings -- they are way way way way more comfortable (and warmer) than tights.

groundless round (La Lechera), Friday, 13 February 2015 23:00 (eleven years ago)

Sorry! I thought it was something I'd read on ilx, it seems logical.

mh, Friday, 13 February 2015 23:51 (eleven years ago)

I meant Good For You of course

a girl with colitis (Je55e), Saturday, 14 February 2015 00:16 (eleven years ago)

lol

mh, Saturday, 14 February 2015 00:21 (eleven years ago)

je55e get some merino long underwear. they're luxurious.

gr8080, Saturday, 14 February 2015 00:27 (eleven years ago)

And apparently you can wear them for awhile without washing them, which I know you enjoy.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Saturday, 14 February 2015 03:18 (eleven years ago)

was that directed at me or je55e

gr8080, Saturday, 14 February 2015 03:51 (eleven years ago)

sure

mh, Saturday, 14 February 2015 04:07 (eleven years ago)

Ha, Jesse, due to his anti-jeans washing stance, about which I like to bust his chops, although I learned of merino wool's no-wash candidacy from you in the -18 thread.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Saturday, 14 February 2015 05:04 (eleven years ago)

mh i'm putting you in time out

gr8080, Saturday, 14 February 2015 06:41 (eleven years ago)

I own a lot of unwashed merino wool and denim.

mh, Saturday, 14 February 2015 14:51 (eleven years ago)

TBH I've become pretty anti-washing about everything except socks and underwear. And of course New Moon/GladRags pads.

one month passes...

first really warm day and everyone is at the park doing their powerwalking. i've never seen so many nude butts through overstretched leggings!

computer champion (harbl), Monday, 6 April 2015 23:08 (eleven years ago)

still sad i can't pull off this look

altho maybe i could .... with the right top

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:15 (eleven years ago)

i have faith in you

my walgreens leggings have not weathered the winter well -- covered in pills and lint tbh -- but they're still better to wear around the house than what i used to wear so i feel like less of a slattern

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 13:49 (eleven years ago)

jealz

i got an above-the-knee cardigan that Ryan calls my Dorothy Zbornak look

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 14:08 (eleven years ago)

yeah the walgreens leggings kind of suck durability-wise. Lots of pills and lint, as LL notes, and my gray ones somehow developed RUNS around the crotch! NAGL.

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:16 (eleven years ago)

OTM. But hey. $5.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:20 (eleven years ago)

And they still feel like a fleece leg hug
Could be worse! So tired of being cold, it's nice to feel warm even if I am covered in pills & lint

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:27 (eleven years ago)

omg my ocd would freak out about that

what do people with ocd do if they want leggings?

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:31 (eleven years ago)

Buy better leggings than those available for $5 at Walgreens.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:33 (eleven years ago)

Right. Like Macy's or something. or no? is that too old-fashioned?

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:34 (eleven years ago)

the ones from target have held up well
they were only $12

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:37 (eleven years ago)

oh of course. Target.

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:38 (eleven years ago)

I mean no need to overspend it on leggings imo

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:39 (eleven years ago)

leggings and a oversize sweatshirt would definitely be my favorite outfit if i were a girl

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:43 (eleven years ago)

Leggings usually come in the following fabrics:

Cotton knit: Pros - no synthetics, nice colors. Cons - will sag and bag and give you dumpy butt within minutes.
Cotton spandex: Pros - mostly cotton. Usually nice and thick. Cons: black ones tend to fade quickly, there's no "slip" so if you're wearing them with a skirt, the skirt might cling to them in an unflattering way.
Modal spandex: Pros - so soft and super comfortable. Lightweight and good for summer. Cons - slight pilling, don't offer good longevity as modal (at least IME) tends to get little holes in it even if you launder it carefully.
Nylon spandex: Pros - More like thick footless tights, which some people may prefer. Cons - definitely can see your underpants through most of these.
Some kind of poly nylon spandex blend. Pros - Cheaper, lots of bright colors and patterns. Cons - the pilling and the possible running at the seams (although I have a pair of poly/spandex leggings that are made of some kind of miracle fabric so this is not universal).
Technical fabric (like running tights): Pros - Thick, come in compression styles if you like that, tend to wear really well. Cons - they look like exercise clothes.

So where you get them and how much you spend will depend on what kind you want. I own or have owned leggings from all categories and modal/spandex are probably my favorite for wearing, their fragility is such a bummer that I don't usually buy them unless they are on super sale. You mostly want to make sure they are sufficiently opaque to hide your butt if you want to wear them as pants. If you want to get fancy and spend $$$ search for something like "premium leggings."

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:46 (eleven years ago)

omg I love the feel of modal but you are so right about the holes! Out of nowhere!

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:50 (eleven years ago)

I wash that shit in a lingerie bag on cold water delicate wash and hang to dry and don't even look at it cross eyed and still! TINY HOLES. Fucking bullshit.

PS Surm here I found you some leggings:

that, paired with a foofy black sweater, and suede shoes. done.

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:54 (eleven years ago)

My leggings recon has revealed something call "harem leggings" and "relaxed fit leggings" and now I need to take a detour over to the IA thread...

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:56 (eleven years ago)

ladies, don't ever forget how good you have it.

very Joan Osborne

surm, Tuesday, 7 April 2015 15:58 (eleven years ago)

Sigh. I've made a vow not to do any superfluous purchasing for a month or I would superfluously be buying those right now.
