my friends own a coffee shop where they roast their own single origin coffee in the light style of the day and their brewing method is cowboy coffee, which in this case really only works cause theyre at altitude

― lag∞n, Thursday, 5 February 2015 13:29 (eleven years ago)
how do you guys deal with the withdrawals?
went cold turkey about 12 years ago.3 days of fever/sweats/headaches etcstayed off since.
― mark e, Thursday, 5 February 2015 13:30 (eleven years ago)
One a day is usually not enough for the withdrawal symptoms to hit if you stop for a while. After my last cold turkey, I try to keep it to one shot and take a day or two off on occasion -- no problem.
Just gimme a little taste, man, I'm shaking real bad.

i love coffee and wish i could drink it regularly, the caffeine is too strong for me though and i get mad anxious as the day goes on. the first couple hours after drinking it are bliss though
― marcos, Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:09 (eleven years ago)
so i limit my coffee drinking to days where it is okay to be a little wired and jittery and when 1) i'm going to be pretty physically active and/or 2) i know i can drink some beer later on or smoke some weed to chill out at the end of day
― marcos, Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:10 (eleven years ago)
yesterday I had a keurig cup at the car dealer and a cup of folgers coffee at work
bwahahaha
― mh, Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:12 (eleven years ago)

i used to be really wired/hyper, but no more, and to be honest, i don't miss it.
― mark e, Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:44 (eleven years ago)

― lag∞n, Thursday, 5 February 2015 15:10 (eleven years ago)

― lag∞n, Thursday, 5 February 2015 15:11 (eleven years ago)
usually just one tho
I now eat breakfast before I have coffee. Helps me with the jitters and the urge to drive fast.
― bollnality of weevil (brownie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 15:15 (eleven years ago)
i always take a lil food w my coff
― lag∞n, Thursday, 5 February 2015 15:17 (eleven years ago)
my first one gives me a boost and makes me productive; if I have a second in the afternoon it almost always makes me wiry/jittery/speedy (like even moreso than I am by default)

once i get tired nothing can stop it i need to nap
― lag∞n, Thursday, 5 February 2015 15:39 (eleven years ago)
I drink decaf. :(
Although sometimes if I'm really really tired and I really really need to get something done, I'll do 1/2 and 1/2 decaf and regular. Anything more than that and I'm flirting with a full blown anxiety attach.
― about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Thursday, 5 February 2015 15:52 (eleven years ago)
Ha. Attack.
all the people I know who drink decaf are either women who drank it while pregnant or their significant others
― mh, Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:04 (eleven years ago)
My bf will literally only drink Nescafe and turns down actual coffee. It's amazing. I have...come to accept it as a hot, caffeinated, coffee-flavored drink.
― Orson Wellies (in orbit), Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:08 (eleven years ago)
I don't know that I've had it, is it better or worse than Sanka?
― mh, Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:11 (eleven years ago)
Confession: Costco had a ridiculous deal on Starbucks VIA Colombian instant packets, and I stocked up on them for rushed mornings, and honestly it's decent stuff.
― walid foster dulles (man alive), Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:13 (eleven years ago)
Definitely by far best instant I've had.
Starbucks VIA is really good for instantly making me rush to the bathroom roughly five minutes after drinking. It's like an instant cleanse diet in a cup.
― mh, Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)
I drink Nescafe at home, but I'v always had a high tolerance for disgusting coffee.
Starbucks VIA is really good, but even when I drank caffeine, I could only use half a packet. A whole one would make me grind my teeth.
― about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:45 (eleven years ago)
Also enough sugar and half and half turn a cup of Nescafe into a warm melted cup of coffee ice cream.
That's what I'm talking about--unfortunately I have to use almond milk so it's less creamy but yeah.
― Orson Wellies (in orbit), Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:48 (eleven years ago)
Can you do soy? Soy creamer is pretty decent.
― about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Thursday, 5 February 2015 17:48 (eleven years ago)
Nope. Bloating for days.
Gah, that sucks.

I've hit the Aeropress and Moka Pot pretty hard for a couple of weeks, it's helped with the cutting down/quitting smoking to have a stimulant replacement. Every time I quit smoking before I'd have a massive energy drop in the early afternoon.
I checked my Paypal account after some auctions and found I had enough to get a real espresso machine - Crossland CC1 and Baratza Vario package from Seattle Coffee Gear. Psyched for this - between not spending $7.50/day on smokes and (theoretically) $2/double, it should be worth what I paid pretty quickly even with the cost of fresh coffee.
The only milk-like product I like is hemp milk - anyone tried that for cappuccinos?
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:04 (eleven years ago)
Bonus of SCG is that they have a ton of videos on machines/technique and the main person in them reminds me of Jane Lynch. Plus the package I got was way cheaper than anything similar I could find (machine w/ temp control and espresso grinder).

imho milk in coffee is gross unless it's steamed. i think the milk sugar takes on a kind of sour quality next to the bitterness of the coffee. just like i don't like sugar in it either. the only dairy product allowed in coffee is heavy cream and ban fake "milks"
― kola superdeep borehole (harbl), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:38 (eleven years ago)
i was just scrolling up and reading about some of you and your caffeine problems and i just realized i drink way too much coffee in the morning :-/
― kola superdeep borehole (harbl), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:40 (eleven years ago)
At home I drink Lebanese coffee (Najjar) with coconut cream & (dairy) cream.
― Dave fischer, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:48 (eleven years ago)
i put a lil half+half in there no steam
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:51 (eleven years ago)
i wld steam it i guess steaming is nice
no steam available tho
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:52 (eleven years ago)
cream in coffee is probably my favourite addition to coffee. Steamed milk second.
I tried hemp milk once and it was AWFUL. It was all we had in the house. I had to make new coffee.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:13 (eleven years ago)
ya id rather just drink it black, which i dont mind at all tbh, than use in any of those other milks, no offense to any partisans of the other milks
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:26 (eleven years ago)
Me, too. Alternamilks can get kind of grainy, or they are just too thin. Black with sugar is nice, too, though.
― about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:37 (eleven years ago)
i never put sugar in there
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:42 (eleven years ago)

I always drink one cup in the morning but the afternoon cup can be kind of rough, the thought of all that black acid
That's why I've been thinking about getting an espresso machine
Cut down on that black acid
Where would I put it though
Who would even have time fo rit
What is espresso even
― 龜, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:49 (eleven years ago)
i drank a cup this afternoon cause i got mexican food and thought to myself hmm a cup of black coffee with this
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:56 (eleven years ago)
I think a whole cup is just a lot of voluem to think about when the day is more than half over
― 龜, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 02:58 (eleven years ago)
