Treeship™ (Treeship), Tuesday, 27 January 2015 00:17 (eleven years ago)

I'm just speculating, I doubt it's "a thing"

i agree with the consensus here that elijah is crushing it this season

Treeship™ (Treeship), Tuesday, 27 January 2015 03:49 (eleven years ago)

^^^^^ that's it!

#Research (stevie), Tuesday, 27 January 2015 08:55 (eleven years ago)

Ray is good but honestly that episode was terrible and Elijah is a ray of sunshine and I need him in my life so I'm glad he's being featured so heavily. Jess is just so fucking unlikable.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Wednesday, 28 January 2015 13:11 (eleven years ago)

well the good news is that this coming episode is another solo Bruce Eric Kaplan episode. he's done 2 on his own before; Video Games (the amazing one where they go to Jessa's Dad's place) in Season 2 and Flo (the one with Hannah's Grandmother in the hospital, pretty much the best episode of the show IMO) in Season 3. so .. yay i say.

piscesx, Wednesday, 28 January 2015 16:35 (eleven years ago)

Jess is p objectively horrible as a human being

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 28 January 2015 16:37 (eleven years ago)

occasionally the show tries to depict her as less horrible by giving her flashes of being brutally honest w people but it's all pretty gross on the whole

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 28 January 2015 16:44 (eleven years ago)

re Jessa - yeah I just can't. I know they try to do this but just everything about her bothers me so much. She's just . . . completely obnoxious.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Wednesday, 28 January 2015 19:22 (eleven years ago)

i like how hateable she is. as far as the commitment of the actress etc

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 28 January 2015 19:33 (eleven years ago)

was this posted already?

Isn't that from back when the show first came out?

walid foster dulles (man alive), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 22:44 (eleven years ago)

probably? i don't know. we were making some jokes at the office and this was sent in one of the emails

sorry, i'm slow with girls-related stuff

F♯ A♯ (∞), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 22:54 (eleven years ago)

Retrospect lol at the GoT reference: Dunham herself probably has been nude more often on Girls than anyone on that.

haha I am an idiot who did not realise Zosia Mamet was David Mamet's daughter.

has Elijah evolved since s2, when he was the Most Annoying Fairy on Earth?

(awaiting s3 from library next week)

Οὖτις, Thursday, 5 February 2015 02:25 (eleven years ago)

Comic relief doesnt evolve

Οὖτις, Thursday, 5 February 2015 02:26 (eleven years ago)

that picture was from when the show was premiering, was dumb then and is dumb now

the plight of y0landa (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 February 2015 05:12 (eleven years ago)

"Nepotism" would be like if Lena Dunham was Judd Apatow's daughter and Marnie Williams was the daughter of an HBO exec. There are an awful lot of actors/writers/directors in the world who are children of other successful people.

walid foster dulles (man alive), Thursday, 5 February 2015 05:15 (eleven years ago)

I kind of want to make an "Inherent Nepotism" poster now:

starring
JAMES BROLIN'S Son
RIVER PHOENIX'S Brother
SAM WATERSTON'S Daughter
GAVIN NEWSOM'S Second Cousin

Directed by
MINNIE RIPPERTON'S Son-In-Law

#Research (stevie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 10:58 (eleven years ago)

you don't have comic "relief" when the show is a comedy

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 5 February 2015 11:40 (eleven years ago)

mark my words, elijah will be the fonzie of girls

#Research (stevie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 11:44 (eleven years ago)

I wonder how much sway Bad Company's drummer has at HBO. "Shit, boss, you'd better answer this one. It's the drummer from Bad Company. If we don't do what he asks we're toast."

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Thursday, 5 February 2015 12:33 (eleven years ago)

it is more a testament to the accuracy of casting than nepotism. a show abt a group of people from privileged backgrounds is acted by a group of people from privileged backgrounds.

pursuit of happiness (art), Thursday, 5 February 2015 13:53 (eleven years ago)

jessa's transatlantic accent is proper weird this season

#Research (stevie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 13:56 (eleven years ago)

im still into marnies character but would not've minded jettisoning zosia & jessa for this season, def seems like they don't have much to do

johnny crunch, Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:13 (eleven years ago)

This show is not a comedy morbz

Οὖτις, Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

i've proper LOLLED several times of late tbh.

#Research (stevie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:26 (eleven years ago)

The OMG privilege! thing with Jemima Kirke is that her mother is a Dellal; she's cousins with Alice and Olympia Dellal. LOL at the idea that the dad is the signifier of advantage on that poster.

camp event (suzy), Thursday, 5 February 2015 14:56 (eleven years ago)

i've proper LOLLED several times of late tbh.

I have too but the show's willingness/eagerness to go for long joke-free stretches, sometimes entire episodes even, makes it p clear they expect the audience to be invested in the drama end of the characters' lives. which I am not tbh. p much everybody is loathsome, they work better as comedy.

Οὖτις, Thursday, 5 February 2015 16:26 (eleven years ago)

I always found it hard to care much about the characters too -- it's like the show lacks a certain awareness of just how easy it's going to be for these people to have perfectly fine lives in the long run, and expects us to be invested in the drama of whether they'll be ok. But there's still a certain amount of enjoyment in the often witty dialogue and just the sheer recognition factor of it being fairly accurate about certain aspects of the lives of people fairly close in age and geography to me.
