that's fantastic are they going to have the 7 run express at all times to not make such a trip an endless nightmare?

lol at them just plain giving up and accepting the terms of, like, three blocks' worth of NIMBYs in astoria, to the point of deflecting the train off in the wrong direction entirely. the 7 express is a totally reasonable commute to midtown, but the 7 local is about twice as long as the N/Q.

Prince Andy says there will be limited subway service after 7pm, and there could be a complete closedown of roads, MetroNorth and the LIRR as of 11pm. An announcement about such a shutdown will be made after 4pm today.

MTA will decide at 4pm whether subway service will be suspended later (after 7, presumably).

Yeah this is somewhat silly. And it's nice to have a snow day and all but I have a toddler so I have to figure out how to entertain her.

I'll stop mindlessly posting second avenue sagas links after this one, but the wnyc excerpt here does a good job of explaining how the mta has existing plans in place that are designed to keep the subways running in large blizzards, which were being prepared for implementation before cuomo's decision.

"smoke condition" at Lex/59th this morning too. Really whole commute was pandemonium, E train seemingly not running or running very infrequently, took the R, got stuck at my station, then got stuck in the tunnel. People pushing, yelling, some lady who obviously couldn't fit on the train wailing like she was trying to catch the last shuttle off earth before nuclear Armageddon.

some eejit pretty much ran right through me on the stairs at Canal St too. If I'd had an extra 3 seconds I'd have thrown my bag at her head.
