I thought they were one of the better things in the episode. The ass eating was good and Elijah was good as always. Or maybe it's just the actor, he's always good isn't he?

they are such a terrible folk duo, their attempts at "harmonizing" are laughable

Do I watch season three? Should I skip to new eps?

since this show is v plot-driven I would say no don't skip s3

for one thing, there is great Laird action in season 3

You know what's even more boring than Girls? Togetherness, which I was looking forward to because Mark Duplass is awesome on The League.

I need to try Looking just to see if HBO has hit a trifecta of "why would anyone watch these whiny people not be funny or interesting for 30-45 minutes?"

I really liked the first episode of Togetherness, will totally watch

Elijah was good as always.

His line about how he wouldn't have to see his ex if he didn't live in New York had me genuinely LOLLING

Same, but I'd started when said ex turned up at brunch wearing three tired New Jersey faghags.

The first episode seemed more like the last one of the series before.

Elijah is consistently the funniest lately. but this show isn't particularly interested in comedy.

I like his character, he's very good at doing that thing where a person is obviously full of shit but kind of believes his own bullshit.

ok the degree to which this writing workshop episode is incredibly awkward is sorta the narrow sweet spot where the show shines

as many problems as i have with this show, there's a compilation of those and related scenes that should be shown to every young person interested in creative writing on every campus in america

yes x1000 - I had a concentration in creative writing as an undergrad and fear of shit like that is one of the reasons I decided not to continue that path into grad school. That scene was so horribly awkward. Also Elijah is the best and I think I hate everyone who is not him too. Why am I still watching this?!

god I haaaated Elijah when he was introduced but he has really grown on me.

he's a stereotype/caricature - at the same time I totally had friends p much exactly like him at that age

I def feel like there are scenarios w/ certain friends and at certain events where I am an Elijah and it kind of horrifies me.

i have a disproportionate number of friends who went to the Iowa Writer's Workshop, so i look forward to seeing this & hearing how they got it wrong.

I can't speak to it's realism, but this was def the most enjoyable episode in a long, long time
