One-Eyed Jacks, a 1961 Western, is the only film directed by actor Marlon Brando. The picture was originally planned to be directed by Stanley Kubrick from a screenplay by Sam Peckinpah, but studio disputes led to their replacement by Brando and Guy Trosper.

Is there such a thing as the inverse of this thread, like people you fully expected to appear in a photo together at some point but never have? I was thinking about Elton John and David Bowie recently and figured that since both were musicians from the same country active over a very long period of time there should obviously be photos of them together, but apparently they hate each other and there is only one that I've seen.

Found this, which looks like the crowd at Wimbledon. Can't even work out if it's real or not (or if that's Elton or Sylvester McCoy).https://40.media.tumblr.com/e22d12d96328142d5ccc5857bbf09bd3/tumblr_nch3t0b6HT1sixwgco1_500.jpg
― Madchen, Monday, 5 January 2015 07:36 (eleven years ago)
Yeah that's the one picture that seems to exist; and that link and a couple others made it sound like Bowie thought Elton was ripping him off and talked shit about him. I had never realized this.
― joygoat, Monday, 5 January 2015 09:13 (eleven years ago)
It hadn't occurred to me either. That Wimbledon pic looks like the organisers have them on a careful seating plan tbh.
― Madchen, Monday, 5 January 2015 09:35 (eleven years ago)
George Michael's in there as well.

people you fully expected to appear in a photo together at some point but never have?
I would totally expect to see a photo of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen together but I can't find one. Same goes for Lou Reed with Jim Morrison (who apparently met at early Velvets shows in LA).

Looking at that pic closely it's clear that it was actually taken at Live Aid. You can see the logo on the laminate that the guy in the middle is wearing (who is he?). And is that Bryan Adams in the left foreground?
― you've got no fans you've got no ground (anagram), Monday, 5 January 2015 10:43 (eleven years ago)
The fellow in the middle looks a bit like John Reid, Elton's manager. But probably isn't.
Is there something strange about the way Princess Diana looks in that shot? Something odd about the focus or the light? It looks like a cut and paste job but I can't work out why.
― Tim, Monday, 5 January 2015 10:52 (eleven years ago)
Looks legit to me.

i think laminate dude *is john reid, but i don't think that's bryan adams
― [email protected] (stevie), Monday, 5 January 2015 14:24 (eleven years ago)
A little GIS-ing reveals that it's actually Jim Beach, Queen's manager.
― you've got no fans you've got no ground (anagram), Monday, 5 January 2015 14:39 (eleven years ago)
gah, right! i knew i recognised him as some kind of mid-80s megabucks manager.

This has been making the rounds on FB today...not "Unexpected" as this was backstage at Bowie's 50th Birthday Concert, but volume man, volume. (Also, if we need to kick off a 'Dave Grohl + Weirdos' thread, here's the place to start.)

I like how the then-Gordon-Moore's got Coco into the picture.

Is that what it looked like backstage at MSG at that concert? I thought all these people would have contract riders specifying tibetan wall paintings, elegant furniture, fine wines, fresh flowers in abundance etc.
