Hahaha Tomofthenest I got that one...

Matt DC, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

And there's a Travel Lodge there now! That's definitely new.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:32 (seventeen years ago)

Nice. Looks like half of it got bombed during the war or something? That crescent is quite difficult to navigate on this.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, it is hard to navigate. So cool to see now though and notice little changes etc.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:36 (seventeen years ago)

they've found wally btw - he's hidden on putney high street, outside the o2 shop.

This is the house near me that I have been raving about for ages. I want to live here.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:41 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe there will be some uproar about local councils using this to see if people have done anything to their house fronts without planning permission or something.

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:42 (seventeen years ago)

That house is awesome!!! I don't blame you for wanting to live there.

My old office building.

Was hoping I'd spot ex co-workers but no such luck.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:43 (seventeen years ago)

Nice little green bit in the middle - I love the little squares/circuses in Islington.
At the bottom of Great Percy Street at the junction with Kings Cross Road there's a traffic warden(?-CPSO?) without her face blurred out!

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:44 (seventeen years ago)

xp to ENBB's original post about where she used to live, incidentally.

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:45 (seventeen years ago)

Ned, yeah I really loved living there. It was so central but so cute.

I didn't realize faces were supposed to be blurred out!

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:47 (seventeen years ago)

They have some software that is supposed to do it I think? It's a bit hit and miss though.

My old office building.

So, across the bridge from MI5 then eh?

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:48 (seventeen years ago)

I'm more concerned about having my telephone number and address available in a directory to thousands of people than google streetview.

Dave Gahan, lead singer of Depeche Mode (Billy Dods), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:48 (seventeen years ago)

x-post Yep, right across. I see the lady now!

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:49 (seventeen years ago)

you know what i'd love to see? photos of streets where i grew up, but from different eras in the past. you get some of these on the transport for london site, i guess. but its ace, to get a feel for how those areas have changed, especially the ones which are now pedestrianised shopping centre type areas, like my former ends of wimbledon.

they don't have to be 3d or nuthin.

Darramouss Darramouss will he do the fandango? (stevie), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:52 (seventeen years ago)

The massive brutalist wonder that is Pimlico School appears to still be there and I thought they'd demolished that.

It's quite good to be able to check places like that out without having the haul my arse across London for it, I must admit.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:53 (seventeen years ago)

The hit and miss-ness of the face blurring is obvious from the link to the Pagoda House Matt linked to - the mini in front of the house has it's wheels blurred out.

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:54 (seventeen years ago)

they blurred out the mural of bobby sands on the falls road too.

joe, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:55 (seventeen years ago)

x-post Or across an ocean as the case would be for me right now.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:55 (seventeen years ago)

What would be really cool would be if you could enter in a start and end point and it would automatically 'walk' the route for you.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:56 (seventeen years ago)

That would be absolutely fantastic. I spent last night looking at Dundee, where I used to live, 'walking' through some of the places which I spent a lot of time around and although interesting the constant clicking and dead ends can be quite tedious.

Dave Gahan, lead singer of Depeche Mode (Billy Dods), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:58 (seventeen years ago)

xp Pimlico School is definitely going - but in stages - they've knocked down one bit and started building the new one, the rest goes this year.

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 12:59 (seventeen years ago)

good idea Matt. altho maybe we should cut to the chase and make it a proper video game.

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 20 March 2009 13:01 (seventeen years ago)

aw i liked pimlico school.

Ken - YAY!!!! Too bad pic wasn't from a Tuesday when the music quiz duo were entering the establishment. Now that I would have liked to see. Still, awesome.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 20 March 2009 13:14 (seventeen years ago)

I've just been interviewed by the local paper re: the shocking exclusion of Leicester from streetview. I think they might have trapped me into saying rude things about Scunthorpe. For which I apologise to all Scunthorpians, but you know wot journos are like...

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 16:29 (seventeen years ago)

Dave Gorman is claiming HE is on streetview. It doesn't look much like him to me.

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 20 March 2009 16:36 (seventeen years ago)

I found a picture of a guy from work walking to work. Looks like this area was pictured at about 7 in the morning, meaning there's no chance of me being on it unless they took a picture of my bed.

the innermost wee guy (onimo), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

Blimey, I can see my neighbours walking out of their gate!

Jarlrmai, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

They're apparently going to be talking to someone from Google on PM (BBC Radio 4) shortly.

krakow, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:20 (seventeen years ago)

This is incredibly creepy!

jel --, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:23 (seventeen years ago)

But making the little yellow man walk around is fun, nintendo should make it into a game, coz it's as involving as Animal Crossing.

jel --, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

my grans old house looks well manky now :(

jel --, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:30 (seventeen years ago)

just typing "Ealing" will give you a picture of a guy taking a picture of the google car!

jel --, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:33 (seventeen years ago)

Missed this - Paisley jnr. almost as daft as his dad.

outside the office I work in in Clerkenwell, you can see a girl from my office sat on the front steps crying, while another dude from the office consoles her

it's on the east end of Aylesbury St, Islington
