i once had a really odd conversation with my mother about how much she hated Barbara Stanwyck. it was hilarious.

Almost feel bad for your mom.

But if you were to recount hilarious conversation it might cheer me up.

I wish I could accurately relay it, but it wasn't so much the words as the pure, unexpected, primal disgust in her face when I mentioned how much I loved Stanwyck, as she simply muttered "I don't like her. I never did." It totally came out of nowhere.

^^The New Yorker DVD is VHS quality. The film is as serious as one can be with an extended fight scene between two guys in mouse suits inside its running time.

it might be resnais's strangest film, and that is /really/ saying something.

Haven't watched in 20 some odd years myself so recorded this morning. Will keep an eye out for teh comedy.

also I dvr'd 'Umberto D.' a while back off tcm -- was hard to figure out having never seen it before, they showed the last :30 mins (so last reel?) first! "FINE came up & it then continued after fading out & I was like damn, this shit is experimental! anyway, I still liked it p well, good flick
