In the Rhett Miller interview, he mentions that his parents continued supporting him while he was a struggling comedian and I lost all possibly sympathy for his bitching about his parents.

That's just my own bias. I hate Stamps.com.

better stamps.com than the adam & eve ads. i don't need to hear marc talking about vibrating things i can put inside myself or my partner while i walk to work, cheers.

The whole exchange between Rhett and Marc about the suicide attempt was pretty funny, paraphrasing obvs:

the intro to the Chrissie Hynde episode (with Maron screaming about coffee and nicotine) is very skippable

Is the chrissy Hyde interview a good listen?

It wasn't the most comfortable interview I've ever heard, and I couldn't tell if it was because Marc was too eager or if Chrissie had an agenda, but I kind of didn't enjoy it. Also, they found a way to bash disco for a little bit, so fuck'em both.

All I could think listening to the Hynde interview was, "jeesh, and people thing Jann Wenner is an old rockist asshole". Does Chrissie always come across as such a close-minded traditionalist? Or was she having an off day? Her choice of words during the whole disco thing was a little eyebrow-raising too.

I thought Maron was the one bashing disco mostly, she was trying to talk about reggae. He was also angling to bash punk as being "all about the fashion" but she ignored it. He really is the most textbook rockist tube amp dude ever.

I don't think he knows what he is, because I still see him posting his record buying results on twitter and he's getting into a lot of varied and different stuff. Old habits die hard, though.

He's been trying to get into hip-hop lately. Shouldn't be too long until he declares the Roots are the best at it.

he's been posting about the box of black metal a friend sent him. Apparently he's pretty into it.

To that end, I would love to hear him interview Questlove.

Maybe I misconstrued what she was saying, not about to go back for another listen, but when she was talking about how African-American music, post reggae, gained this "smash and grab" mentality and leaving out spirituality, I thought it was a little icky sounding.

I've never really listened to many interviews with her though, so maybe that's par for the course. It just struck me that, during a WTF musician interview, it was the guest making me more uncomfortable than Marc.

i was on the 'have to listen to every episode' train for a long time but haven't felt like listening in awhile. there are enough good podcasts now that were inspired by his model but feel fresher (probably because they have better taste in music and haven't run for hundreds of episodes).

What are some other good ones Jordan? I need a couple of new podcasts.

here's what i've been listening to in the car:

-The Wandering Wolf (Yoni Wolf from Why?'s podcast, i don't think enjoyment is contingent on knowing or liking his music, although he does talk to Anticon-related dudes from time to time.)

-Secret Skin (Open Mike Eagle's podcast, interviews are mostly rappers and comedians so far)

-Kinda Neat (L.A.-based, lots of rappers and producers)

-No Effects (conversations with musicians hosted by one of the dudes from Tanlines, he's sort of dry but in a way that reminds me of myself)

-The Champs

Then there are a couple other ones that I listen to at work, for some reason it's easier to work to shows that have regular co-hosts rather than an interview format. Dapwell & Lakutis (from Das Racist) have one that's pretty funny.

I was excited about the Mike Eagle show, but I tried to listen to the episode with Milo and the sound quality was so bad (like sub-Shots Fired level) that I could barely make out what they were saying.

I like the W. Kamau Bell and Kevin Avery podcast about Denzel

that was the worst one sound-wise, the others are better (but still not, uh, great).

Turns out that Jenny Slate, Maron, and I all had the same experience growing up with maths

It's weird. I've heard Jenny Slate interviewed a bunch of times and always liked her, but after hearing her WTF I'm thinking things like, "oh yeah, your life is so awesome that you need to escape it by smoking out 24/7." Maybe I'm hearing her through Maron's 12-steppin' ears tho.

I think I maybe listened to the Louis episode(s) before, but if I did it's been so long that hearing them talk today sounds fresh.
