The In and Out need state

That's not an easy graph to parse.

Oh good it's not just me.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 20 November 2014 16:57 (eleven years ago)
I'm not sure if I can read it or not either, but why would a casual dining restaurant fill the need to get in and out quickly? I thought that's what the other two categories were for.
― my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 20 November 2014 16:58 (eleven years ago)
wtf are those 4 categories of dining
― $0.00 Butter sauce only. No marinara. (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 20 November 2014 17:04 (eleven years ago)
I don't think "industry" is a category of dining
― my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 20 November 2014 17:05 (eleven years ago)
well I guess it is technically a 'segment'
― $0.00 Butter sauce only. No marinara. (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 20 November 2014 17:06 (eleven years ago)
I think Casual Dining is sit-down chains like Friday's, Chili's, PF Chang's etc., fast casual is I think stuff like Panera Bread and Chipotle ("upscaled" fast food), and "quick service" is the old fast food category. Not sure if this is right because it seems like places like Chipotle have just as quick service as McDonald's.
― my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 20 November 2014 17:07 (eleven years ago)
if that's true, I agree that the Casual Dining segment is not meeting my shifting need states
― $0.00 Butter sauce only. No marinara. (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 20 November 2014 17:10 (eleven years ago)
quick service places used to literally let you walk in ask for food and walk out, they're kinda pokier than they used to be

Leela: Didn't you have ads in the 21st century?
Fry: Well sure, but not in our dreams.
Only on TV and radio, and in magazines, and movies, and at ball games...
And on buses and milk cartons and t-shirts, and bananas, and written on the sky.
But not in dreams, no siree.

Then, in 1939, the Colonel made what is regarded in chicken circles as a historic breakthrough.
― 龜, Monday, 24 November 2014 16:15 (eleven years ago)
Late in 1963, after less than eight years in the business, the Colonel had more than six hundred franchised outlets for his chicken in this country and Canada, which put him well ahead of the other fried-chicken operations, such as Chicken Delight and Chicken in the Rough.
If I ever get access to a time machine, going back to 1963 and sampling Chicken Delight and Chicken in the Rough will be pretty high on my list of priorities

The blog posts are hyperbolic. “Health Kwest: A Major Inexcusable Embarrassment for Genghis Grill,” reads one by Pearson Hurst, a Virginia man who said he was at first excited to be chosen for the contest.

I've been thinking about Miami Subs lately. It is a pink and seafoam green decorated philly cheesesteak franchise that somehow had one of its few non-Florida locations in Indiana.

they literally set up a location in mongolia btw
― linda cardellini (zachlyon), Monday, 24 November 2014 21:05 (eleven years ago)
Genghis Kahn is by far the greatest hero of Mongolia. They erected one of those gigantic statues of him there and they're extremely proud of his world-conquering exploits. But in the USA he's a human cartoon character.
― oh no! must be the season of the rich (Aimless), Monday, 24 November 2014 21:40 (eleven years ago)
Again, I'm fine with a wacky cartoon version of a Kentucky Colonel strutting around since that company was actually founded by a weird white guy with a goatee.
However, hero or not, I'm not as forgiving of the intentions of whatever Western corporate office who came up with Mongolians plodding around a buffet line, grunting at each other.

I got the the Chipotle Quesarito yesterday
it made me think a LOT about American gluttony and overindulgence and while it was quite delicious it's hard for me to come to terms w/ ingesting something this gargantuan and unhealthy. I just finished the leftovers and I want to cry into a lovely kale salad.
