My mother makes a shrimp and egg-salad 'salad' with spring onions and grapes in it. It's VERY Minnesota, but it is not the named salad.

very Edina maybe

There's also a tuna variant, for those of you who haven't thought about throwing up already.
My mother would rip the nuts off any man who suggested she was from *spits* Edina.

My mom's summer picnic go-to is a tuna salad with shell pasta, cheddar cheese, some salad vegetables, and halved grapes. It's seriously not bad at all.

Xpost listen I'm sure yr mom is nice but if you don't want ppl to think yr from Edina stop making luxurious shrimp salads

If it helps, for New Jersey they had something called "crepes-style manicotti" which I think maybe they saw on The Sopranos or something.

So this was where the grape salad controversy discush was happening
― 龜, Sunday, 30 November 2014 02:22 (eleven years ago)
Did other states raise as much a stink? Didn't bother to see what other presumptions had been made. Honestly, tho, I think if you served grape salad in some church basement, no one would bat an eye in MN.

best wikipedia paragraph of all time:
"Menards commercials are accompanied with banjo music played by Gary Shaw of Wisconsin.[8] In reference to creating the musical piece, Shaw said, "I just started playing on it and they said, 'That's perfect; that's exactly what we need.' Took me a half an hour. I got $50 for a one-time fee, and I've had to listen to that commercial every day for 20 years." Spanish commercials are accompanied with a mariachi mix of the banjo accompaniment."

i went to Little Tiajuana's again for the first time since it reopened a couple years ago, p much the same, Don Pablo's level food in a scungy environment staffed by complete passive aggressive loonies. now it's not even open after bar time which sort of makes me wonder why it even exists. def feels like a relic from a long-past (thankfully) era in minneapolis mexican food. i'm sure you could find a better place literally every two blocks on lake street now.
