I liked WZBC too, but I found frustrating how the djs would play 10 songs in a row and then forget to say what they all were in the breaks between songs. Emerson's studios are very nice on the inside - I wouldn't have minded doing shows there. (I am totally biased about boston college radio)

BC v. BU students...BC students for playing chicken on Comm. Ave. less often, BU students for cars one will likely forever envy and never own. Ultimately a wash though (i.e. neither are big on redeeming qualities [as generalizations go, which undergrads do...?]).

ZBC v. ERS - ERS is a hair more listenable than ZBC can be at times. Although, on average, ZBC sponsors better shows.

Up Beacon Street (over the bridge on your right) from Buckminster is Audubon Circle which has great, cheap eats, the best bathrooms in Boston and decor to match.

Yes, I was there! I hightailed it out quick though as I had to rush to the Buckminster, pick up my bag, then rush to the C'town bus. Did you see Mozzer leave the theater? What models?

I didn't see Moz, alas; we were down by the bagel place near the subway exit.

There were some "models" (ie, painfully thin, unattractive women, and I mean SERIOUSLY unattractive, like missing teeth and cross-eyed pony unattractive) dressed up in goofy, outlandish gear (ie, metallic fabric off-the-shoulder-in-a-Flashdance-stylee blouses with plastic miniskirts and thigh boots with their hair teased out to Connecticut) who were strutting around Boston Common near the Park Street T-station and walking up and down Winter St by the construction around the corner from the theater with a photographer in tow putting them into wildly goofy tableaus. It was very amusing.

Too bad, I didn't see anyone like that. I did see a lot of guys in baseball caps though, like, everywhere. The Orpheum Mon night was no good--there was an empty seat in the second row, but these people wouldn't let me sit there bc "That's not your seat." Then there was an empty space right in front of the stage but the bouncer wouldn't let me stand there. So I was finally reduced to standing in the second row. Tues was a lot better--they let me sit in the second row and then let me stand right next to the stage, within easy groping distance. I really liked the Public Gardens and Boston Commons--especially with the weather so beautiful when I was there. My favorite thing about Boston? Hello Kitty World on Newbury.

Dude, getting a kick in the balls is better than Boston, of course Philly is better. I went up there to visit my sister and we could literally see where she was from all points driving but had no discernible way to GET to her because the roads just don't go anywhere but a big circle.

I went to Pinochios--these nice boys at the famous ice cream shop recommended i either go there or to some Mexican place.

Why is it never time for you to WALK across the streets in Boston? At every street I came to, traffic was whizzing by, there was never a walk sign, and I had to push the stupid button and wait forever. Then, get 1/3 of the way across the huge street, and start all over again.

I found the areas of Boston where white people live mostly useless, but I enjoyed the Spanish (Hyde Square, Chelsea), Portuguese (East Cambridge), Chinese (Chinatown), Korean (Allston), Vietnamese (Uphams Corner), whatever pan-asian thing the the Porter Exchange is, and most of Roxbury/Dorchester well enough.

Radiowise, the only college stuff I enjoyed much were the Late Risers Club on WMBR (some of the best radio I've ever heard, actually), the goofy classic rock show that comes on after it, and the Greek(?) guy who plays 60's garage rock on WHRB. The Record Hospital was very disappointing, given all the legendary stuff I'd heard about it, but the orgies on WHRB are great. I never found anything interesting on WERS and WZBC.

I figured there must've been a hundred barbecues in Dorchester better than Redbones, but I never managed to find any. Redbones is fun enough but the food is totally forgettable.

Who are the famous athletes from Boston? The only one I can think of is Marvin Hagler. Did Reggie Lewis grow up in Boston? I know he went to Northeastern.

Boston has the shortest, most inconspicuous MLK Blvd. I've ever seen. Why bother even having one? I also heard something about the Zakim Bridge also being called the Bunker Hill bridge because the Charlestown residents didn't want the bridge to be named for a Jew. Did I read that somewhere on this thread?
