My brother has had Type I diabetes since 1966. It's no bed of roses, especially when you get old and the complications and side effects of a lifetime of insulin dependence start to pile up. But I think he'd cringe at that FB meme. Too self-pitying.

oh i'm not scoffing at diabetes; had a friend just go through a thing where a blister he didn't notice cuz of diabetic nerve damage got infected, then the bone got infected and he almost lost some toes... then the blood thinner and antibiotics he was on to keep him from losing the toes led to him throwing a clot and having a severe stroke, laid him out for better part of a year. that shit is evil.
