That whole show was rough. Leslie Jones was the best part of it and she's not even in the cast.

For someone who'd been on the show for 40 years, you'd think they'd give Pardo more of a tribute than a title card after Update.

That turnt thing was weak, and the toys coming alive sketch was middle school humor at its worst

girl at a party sketch was good as always

most of the other stuff was pretty eh but the marvel taped sketch was really funny. also thought the "Weird" Kyle Mooney Sketch from was actually kinda great.

It has its moments, but unless it really improves in quality I'd be perfectly happy if they fired him and sent him back to write at SNL. Hell, anchor even, I didn't think he was that bad.

Yeah, I really had no problems with Seth on Update (but maybe some as head writer). As far as I can tell, the only thing Colin Jost was put on earth to do is help Bobby Moynihan create "Drunk Uncle".

Mooney's Tim and Eric skit was only good part

Hammond surprisingly flat and personality-less as an announcer. Maybe it was just opening day jitters. Che seemed pretty nervous, and even Aidy flubbed some lines in the cold open.

I didn't dislike the Leslie Jones and Pete Davidson bits, but it felt awkward to me that they were there as "weekend update characters" when it really felt like they were doing their stand up act.

Leslie Jones did a bit on Update last season too, and it was the highlight of that episode as well iirc.

Am I misremembering or didn't John Mulaney do this a couple years back?

You can now add this week's Mooney piece to the very small collection of things he's done that I like.

Overall, an improvement from last week. Still rough, and Update is still terrible, but I really liked Sarah Silverman a lot more as a host than I thought I would.

am i taking crazy pills, they were a fraction less wooden and awful during the banter but i wouldn't categorize it as "fun," let alone "gold."

Che was a lot better than he was last week (and I actually thought he was ok last week), but Jost can continue to feast on my poo.

I did like that Keenan as Al Sharpton kept calling him Kevin.

keenan as per usual was great in every sketch this week

Did Sarah flub every other line in the Joan Rivers sketch or was I just mishearing her?

Thought that was odd considering delivering punchlines is what she does.

Yeah I was almost wondering if she lost a contact lens and couldn't see the cards or something. I wonder if maybe they changed some of the jokes after rehearsal.

Not to sound all "get off my lawn," but watching so many old sketches today it's really embarrassing how much SNL casts have relied on cue cards for the past dozen years when that was never an issue during the Hooks/Hartman era (or anytime before). Is there some kind of logistical reason for it, or are the new casts just that lazy?
