still weird to think of bobby moynihan as the 2nd most veteran castmember today
― da croupier, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 21:44 (eleven years ago)
wow ariana grande can't enunciate
― everybody loves lana del raymond (s.clover), Sunday, 28 September 2014 04:07 (eleven years ago)
That isn't news, dude
― 💪😈⚠️ (DJP), Sunday, 28 September 2014 04:10 (eleven years ago)
its news if you've managed to avoid her as much as i have
― everybody loves lana del raymond (s.clover), Sunday, 28 September 2014 04:51 (eleven years ago)
She is wonderful
― GhostTunes on my Pono (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 28 September 2014 04:58 (eleven years ago)
well 'Piano' is anyway
That whole show was rough. Leslie Jones was the best part of it and she's not even in the cast.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 28 September 2014 05:11 (eleven years ago)
For someone who'd been on the show for 40 years, you'd think they'd give Pardo more of a tribute than a title card after Update.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 28 September 2014 12:33 (eleven years ago)
Like Darrell Hammond made up to look like him and dancing with Lorne to "She's A Rainbow"
― sink floyd (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 28 September 2014 12:35 (eleven years ago)
That turnt thing was weak, and the toys coming alive sketch was middle school humor at its worst
― curmudgeon, Sunday, 28 September 2014 12:46 (eleven years ago)
jost/che is the worst bullshit
― johnny crunch, Sunday, 28 September 2014 18:23 (eleven years ago)
this was the only sketch that got a lol from mehttp://www.hulu.com/watch/692467?playlist_id=2660#i0,p8
― Mordy, Sunday, 28 September 2014 18:37 (eleven years ago)
che is gonna be great once he settles in and stops stumbling over his cue cards
jost... whatever
girl at a party sketch was good as always
most of the other stuff was pretty eh but the marvel taped sketch was really funny. also thought the "Weird" Kyle Mooney Sketch from was actually kinda great.
― snrub goin up on a tuesday (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 28 September 2014 18:54 (eleven years ago)
che/jost has to be the worst update situation since, i'm guessing, like brad hall or something
― bozack horseman (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 29 September 2014 03:18 (eleven years ago)
get in here, goons
dedicated PETE DAVIDSON thread
― bozack horseman (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 29 September 2014 03:25 (eleven years ago)
xp Dude, give Che a month or something. He's got Jost's lack of charisma and bad delivery weighing him down.
― sink floyd (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 29 September 2014 03:25 (eleven years ago)
well on top of that, Seth is out as head writer and the jokes mostly blow
― bozack horseman (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 29 September 2014 03:30 (eleven years ago)
I dunno, if Seth is that good, Late Night wouldn't be such a monumental snoozefest.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 29 September 2014 03:33 (eleven years ago)
btw Darrell Hammond is not as good an announcer as I somehow imagined he might be. Sounded like the guy reading small print at the end of an investment commercial.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 29 September 2014 03:40 (eleven years ago)
Yeah Hammond sounded like he was just reading it through in preparation. Weird.
It has its moments, but unless it really improves in quality I'd be perfectly happy if they fired him and sent him back to write at SNL. Hell, anchor even, I didn't think he was that bad.
― sink floyd (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 29 September 2014 03:48 (eleven years ago)
Yeah, I really had no problems with Seth on Update (but maybe some as head writer). As far as I can tell, the only thing Colin Jost was put on earth to do is help Bobby Moynihan create "Drunk Uncle".
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 29 September 2014 03:58 (eleven years ago)
Mooney's Tim and Eric skit was only good part
― GhostTunes on my Pono (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 29 September 2014 04:04 (eleven years ago)
Hammond surprisingly flat and personality-less as an announcer. Maybe it was just opening day jitters. Che seemed pretty nervous, and even Aidy flubbed some lines in the cold open.
I didn't dislike the Leslie Jones and Pete Davidson bits, but it felt awkward to me that they were there as "weekend update characters" when it really felt like they were doing their stand up act.
― Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 23:43 (eleven years ago)
Hey it worked for Brooks Whelan... Oh wait.
― sink floyd (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 23:46 (eleven years ago)
they were there as "weekend update characters"
were they? i don't recall this, although i'll admit that i tune out when jost is speaking.
― polyphonic, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 23:52 (eleven years ago)
Leslie Jones did a bit on Update last season too, and it was the highlight of that episode as well iirc.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 00:00 (eleven years ago)
basically only watching for kyle mooney sketches and kate mckinnon characters
― Mordy, Sunday, 5 October 2014 04:45 (eleven years ago)

Am I misremembering or didn't John Mulaney do this a couple years back?
― jaymc, Sunday, 5 October 2014 06:12 (eleven years ago)
You can now add this week's Mooney piece to the very small collection of things he's done that I like.
Overall, an improvement from last week. Still rough, and Update is still terrible, but I really liked Sarah Silverman a lot more as a host than I thought I would.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 5 October 2014 06:27 (eleven years ago)
critic i follow on twitter:
But the big takeaway: “Weekend Update” is fun again! The Jost/Che back-and-forth about what they can and cannot respectively say is absolutely gold, and something the show’s been missing for a long time.
am i taking crazy pills, they were a fraction less wooden and awful during the banter but i wouldn't categorize it as "fun," let alone "gold."
― you little affront to god (reddening), Sunday, 5 October 2014 09:13 (eleven years ago)
Che was a lot better than he was last week (and I actually thought he was ok last week), but Jost can continue to feast on my poo.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 5 October 2014 15:09 (eleven years ago)
I did like that Keenan as Al Sharpton kept calling him Kevin.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 5 October 2014 15:11 (eleven years ago)
keenan as per usual was great in every sketch this week
― johnny crunch, Sunday, 5 October 2014 15:41 (eleven years ago)
I would watch more "Supportive Women" sketches

Reece De'What always makes me happy.
― sink floyd (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 5 October 2014 23:25 (eleven years ago)
Did Sarah flub every other line in the Joan Rivers sketch or was I just mishearing her?
― nickn, Monday, 6 October 2014 00:11 (eleven years ago)
Thought that was odd considering delivering punchlines is what she does.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 6 October 2014 00:35 (eleven years ago)
Yeah I was almost wondering if she lost a contact lens and couldn't see the cards or something. I wonder if maybe they changed some of the jokes after rehearsal.

that one is up there with the best snl sketches to me
― polyphonic, Friday, 10 October 2014 02:22 (eleven years ago)
Not to sound all "get off my lawn," but watching so many old sketches today it's really embarrassing how much SNL casts have relied on cue cards for the past dozen years when that was never an issue during the Hooks/Hartman era (or anytime before). Is there some kind of logistical reason for it, or are the new casts just that lazy?
