I assume there will be dancing, yes. The way it was described to me was "if you want to dance, people will be, but if you just want to hang out that is very easy too". It's not like a club thing, I don't think.

Really we're just going to support our friend. I am not much of a dancer!

yeah, I can't believe I still have an hour and 20 minutes here. I just want to go home and listen to music and play SimCity 2000 and not think about anything anymore.

i should have toby take nick to the gig instead of me, and then we could go to the DJ thing, which i suspect i'd like more.

I go through phases with SimCity 2000, and I have off and on since it came out in 1995. I'll forget about it for months and months, then obsessive build cities for weeks and weeks. Rinse, repeat.

i think i went through a period where i was addicted to simcity 2000 in like 1998 or so, on a trip to san diego where i got sick and had to hang out in the hotel a lot.

sarah, have you been to this crafts fair thingy that's tomorrow? is it fun? i kind of want to go, but also want to go to the wine fest that's in old town AND we need to hit the farmers markets. i wonder if all three is too much for one afternoon.

I cheat. I need all the money in the world so I can build anything I want. I enjoy planning neighborhoods and urban centers and parks and public transportation... I don't want to have to manage money, too.

Colette - Yes, I've been a couple times at least or maybe I'm just confusing a few different craft fairs... but I've definitely been to this one when it was in the park. It is fun, especially at first, though in the end many people are making the exact same things (ie: yet another stall with homemade pocket mirrors or weird dolls in the same style). It's worth going I'd say over all. I'm a little worried though that it's all on the sidewalk this year, since it took up a large part of wicker park last year, but we'll see...

Is that neighborhood actually DANGEROUS? I am a little wary of walking places these days b/c of all the shootings in my hood. It's got me on edge. And I hear that the Clipper is in a scary area.

I still want to know who takes a cab to and away from a shooting.

Wouldn't it be a pretty long walk from the California blue line stop to the California Clipper? Like, several miles?

nick otm -- it's almost like walking from Fullerton to Chicago. And yes, some of that walk will not be in the finest neighborhood.

California Blue line stop is at 2300 N. California, California Clipper is at 1002 N. California, so have fun walking 13 blocks.

Is there a California bus? You could hop on that maybe.

1000 N. California is squarely in Humboldt Park. Looks like about a mile and a half walk from the Blue Line. I wouldn't be worried about walking there, though I might not walk back late at night. The HP always has people out and about and California is a fairly well-traveled street.

There is a California bus, but it hops back and forth between Cali and Kedzie. Dunno if it goes by the bar.
