Yeah it's incredible that someone would go to those lengths. Be good and come back when the dust settles. You'll be missed, bud.

DC you are a good sort; I'll miss your posts a great deal and hope to see some new ones some day. In the meantime please do what you have to and take care.

I agree with everyone who has said they refuse to grieve on line. In fact I doubt the sincerity of anyone who does so.
If you want to mark personal loss then a moment's reflection would seem to be most appropriate. I find solace in poetry, but everyone will have their own way which would be appropriate.
As regards feelings about celebrity loss ie the death of someone famous then I find that more problematical.
I met someone a few years ago who was a Manchester United fan and he was baffled why he couldn't stop weeping when George Best died. To a certain extent I think that we grieve for what we have lost personally rather than for the person whom we only know through either television, the cinema or through some other distorting lens. It's a remembrance of all those feelings we had when we were first moved by some special skill or talent that caught our attention - a transient moment of magic - now lost but brought back when we see a notice of their death.
i think we grieve for the transience.

celine was so important for me when i first moved to chicago and seemed to perfectly reflect the new environs (shit brown snow everywhere, unfamiliar streets) that i don't think i could read him now without some sort of spurious nostalgia for an unpleasant time

terrified of having to cope with adult life, lonely, devoid of any sense of purpose, no power to change anything that makes me unhappy, all i've learned is how to fake humanity and all i've got to do is keep repeating the illusion in public until fuck knows
can't tell what's panic and what's all there is any more

option 1hang in there NV, best wishes
option 2my life is so small and narrowwhere is it taking me?
option 3i feel you, back to work on mon, all week in bed with flu (ah actually just cold, my mother got it too and she had the flu jab) wondering if i was staying in bed due to illness physical or mental: too tired to get up but not sleeping while down, or fitfully dreaming of work and waking in a cold sweat
