Somebody should go undercover onto a watch enthusiast forum and get the reax

, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:14 (eleven years ago)

people will have to be able to try each size and strap combo on, they'll probably have to have associates bring out try-ons as if they're selling at a jewelry store, will be a powerful experience if Angela Ahrendts and co. design it right

status conscious billionaire prob wear this thing for a week then go back to his million dollar swiss watch

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:14 (eleven years ago)

there's gotta be a watch subforum on fedoralounge

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:14 (eleven years ago)

yeah I mean at the truly high end you can get some pretty attractive complication watches in the $300,000-$1M+ range

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:14 (eleven years ago)

once saw a picture of a complication watch, felt desire to possess it, learned it cost as much as a house

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:15 (eleven years ago)

sure but their goal should be to convince someone like me I'm missing out by not having a cool watch not impress that small segment of rich dudes who already love watches

ya im just saying as a watch its not a very good design, but maybe thats okay since its not really a watch

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:15 (eleven years ago)

watch enthusiasts have reason to dislike this right, since apple's goal is to kill non-apple watches dead

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:16 (eleven years ago)

friend of mines dad owns a million dollar watch plus a bunch of $100k+ ones, grody

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:16 (eleven years ago)

part of the problem might be that it's too cheap at $350, even poor people can afford it

they should make a U2 version for $5000

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:16 (eleven years ago)

I can now open the door and drive my car without taking my keys out of my pocket. I look forward to this new world of never reaching in my pockets.

⌘-B (mh), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:17 (eleven years ago)

if the gold one sells, I look forward to silver and platinum versions

⌘-B (mh), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:17 (eleven years ago)

much rather have to keep fewer things in my pocket but battery life issues are gonna stand in the way of that for a long time, maybe they cld make a credit car car key thatd be pretty sweet

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:18 (eleven years ago)

If there's a way to integrate the charger with the iPhone charger that could help w/ some of the concerns about battery life

, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:20 (eleven years ago)

actually I really don't care about battery life, just charge it everynight w/ your phone, what's the big deal there

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:20 (eleven years ago)

having to charge yr phone overnight is a downer too, been saying they shd come out w a fat iphone w a huge battery

the charger is the display stand isn't it?

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:22 (eleven years ago)

i wld buy the fat iphone right away!

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:22 (eleven years ago)

idk it's a downer in the same way that having to brush your teeth is a downer, like if it's just something you do every night who cares

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:23 (eleven years ago)

guys which new iPhone do I want?

btw I like to front like none of this new stuff is useful or relevant to my lifestyle but I'm gonna be the guy paying with my iPhone at Whole Foods to buy like a pound of yellowfin tuna in a couple months

Did you see the battery life on the 6+ on Apple.com, looks good

, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:23 (eleven years ago)

yeah but i dont want that huge phone, they cld make the normal one like 1/3 thicker and triple the battery life and people who fuck w their phones all day wld love it

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:25 (eleven years ago)

or people who just want their charge to last for a few days w/o worrying about it

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:25 (eleven years ago)

idk why they dont do it

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:25 (eleven years ago)

being low on charge is so stressful man cant stand it

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:26 (eleven years ago)

some people like to live on the edge

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:26 (eleven years ago)

fine they can buy the thin vers then

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:27 (eleven years ago)

from the few posts i read on this thread on a watch enthusiast forum, the reaction seems actually OK http://forums.watchuseek.com/f513/apple-finally-unveils-apple-watch-i-kind-like-1082714.html

why would you want a pool shaped like a cocktail glass

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:29 (eleven years ago)

because it's filled w/ alcohol?

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:29 (eleven years ago)

I dunno one issue I just thought of is that for people whose clothing doesn't have pockets, to check your phone is a hassle. my wife complains all the time about how even woman pants don't have pockets, or at best have very small pockets, so she has to keep her phone in a purse/bag/whatever, and so getting it out is a pain. so that could be a market for this thing...I don't know whether it's going to be fashionable for women though (it just looks like an iPod nano on your wrist doesn't it?)

Euler, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:32 (eleven years ago)

there is also a market for apple to make womens pants w/ pockets

apple pants

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:33 (eleven years ago)

i don't get the watch. it's for reading text messages? and counting steps? something magical that someone will figure out real soon now?

xp Euler makes a good point

btw iphone now a two hand device pretty big change, this reachablity feature sounds like garbage extra taps just to use it people just gonna use two hands

every time you press a button in Reachability mode, the app “window” zooms back up to the top of the screen, and you have to double tap again to re-enable Reachability and press the button again.

shdve kept the small phone too imho

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:36 (eleven years ago)

think this thread demonstrates there's a market for phones with grooves on the back for your coke.

the market for magic watches is 95% masculine-gendered. dying at "females would love this because they have no pockets!!!!!"

mattresslessness, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:38 (eleven years ago)

Don't really have an opinion about this WATCH tbh but I use/need a watch and wear a cheapie fitness watch all the time. I need to manage my time and checking my phone is rude vs glancing at my wrist

also yeah I have a chest strap HR monitor and it's def cumbersome

gbx, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:38 (eleven years ago)

didn't say they "would" love this, just wondered if the appeal is different if getting your phone out is a hassle

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:40 (eleven years ago)

has anyone made a smart purse yet

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:41 (eleven years ago)

good idea

mattresslessness, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:41 (eleven years ago)

I'm leaning toward the 6+ now that I've heard that the interface is ever so slightly tweaked for it:

fair, interesting

mattresslessness, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:42 (eleven years ago)

do these watches not work w/ iphone 5s?

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:43 (eleven years ago)

reachability sounds pretty bad btw

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 16:44 (eleven years ago)

Wonder how much difference the optical image stabilization in the 6+ will make

Anyone else think the font used for Apple Watch is, if not ugly, at least unusually plain or generic? (compared to the "tv" in Apple TV)
