You can fit an iPad Mini into a man's pants pocket, I don't think any of these phones will be a problem

I have trouble with my iPhone 5. Maybe my pants are just too tight. Maybe apple wants me to lose weight.

Jeff, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:17 (eleven years ago)

the only way I could stick an iPad mini into my pocket would be if I rolled it up first.

pplains, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:26 (eleven years ago)

Where's the news about the death of iPod Classic?

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:29 (eleven years ago)

It's gone from the Apple site.

Guess they would rather sell. 128gb iPhone. The least they could do is offer a the iPod touch and nano in 128GB

and in his absence, she (Lee626), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:44 (eleven years ago)

You should email them, I have heard they refresh those product lines occasionally.

⌘-B (mh), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:45 (eleven years ago)

ive never seen an ipod nano, forgot they existed

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:47 (eleven years ago)

⌘-B (mh), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:47 (eleven years ago)

I've had two nanos, never owned a classic.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:49 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:50 (eleven years ago)

Oh, okay. I didn't even realize they looked like that now. I had a 3rd gen and a 5th gen.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:52 (eleven years ago)

Employee discount on the phire fone is p desperate

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:58 (eleven years ago)

what i liked about the mini/nano is that they were humble little products that got out of your way

now apple wants you to have an iphone on you AT ALL TIMES because ...

... just because that's the way companies behave when they start thinking of a product as a platform.

"the phone is the key, do you understand? once they have the phone all things are possible. the phone, they must have the phone!"

ugh (lukas), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 22:03 (eleven years ago)

music for cryonic suspension (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 22:10 (eleven years ago)

Dang they don't even have refurbed/clearance iPod classics on the apple store site anymore :(

Rand McNulty (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 22:38 (eleven years ago)

I had to go to the store to replace mine when the hard drive died recently. I did get one tho.

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 22:39 (eleven years ago)

Yeah the HD on my 160 GB is on its last legs. Gonna visit tekserve on my way home..,

Rand McNulty (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 22:40 (eleven years ago)

damn I was thinking for a while that I should buy a spare iPod classic as this is all I use in my car. Wouldn't apple retailers still have a couple left in stock?

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 09:20 (eleven years ago)

Yeah they're still available (e.g. here but buy one quick before resellers snap them all up and jack up the price

, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 10:17 (eleven years ago)

ipods should come back

markers, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 12:14 (eleven years ago)

i liked music more during its reign

markers, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 12:14 (eleven years ago)

ok, now feeling how stupid it is that the 6s doesn't just start with 32gb on the base model. i'm probably gonna have to chuck the extra $100 to jump up to 64gb

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 13:56 (eleven years ago)

When will they make a desktop version of the iPhone?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 14:00 (eleven years ago)

you mean the iPad mini rite

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 14:04 (eleven years ago)

Damn. RIP the only Apple product I buy. A good excuse to finally divorce myself from the yoke of iTunes, I guess.

Rocking In The Broad Daylight (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 14:16 (eleven years ago)

since my (4 or 5 year old) 160 GB Classic started shitting the bed this spring I took a different tack altogether in addressing my portable music hoarding tendencies... got a 40 buck Sansa Clip Zip, installed Rockbox firmware on it so I can have parametric EQ, crossfeed, compression and stereo width adjustment, and got a half dozen various capacity Micro SD cards each of which contains one of my different nerd libraries. I keep the micro SDs in my wallet and pop a different one into the sansa clip when I feel like it. so now I have about 500 GB of my stuff portable and the Sansa is lighter weight than my headphones and sounds amazing.

With that said... I will always love the iPod and will probably grab one before Tekserve runs out of em.

Rand McNulty (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 14:42 (eleven years ago)

The watch is cool, I want one, fuck the haters. Is it superfluous and decadent, sure, but if I turn those filters off I just want one.

'arry Goldman (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:10 (eleven years ago)

I keep trying to think of reasons why I would find one useful but most of those times are when I don't have my phone on me, which means the watch won't work

iatee, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:12 (eleven years ago)

I think it'll work, it'll just do a lot less

⌘-B (mh), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:13 (eleven years ago)

like it might just... tell time

⌘-B (mh), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:13 (eleven years ago)

it doesnt seem to do too much, payments, notifications, health tracking

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:14 (eleven years ago)

Good tips, Jon. I'm going to be looking into all of my options now (my own 4-5 year old 160 GB classic, which is by far the longest-lived of the iPods I've owned, is starting to get a little wonky). I've stuck with the iPod/iTunes combo because I've put so much work (10+ years?) into meticulously crafting my playlists and ratings and it's so easy to sync up whatever I want to listen to on a given day. Not looking forward to putting a ton of time into a whole new setup.

Rocking In The Broad Daylight (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:16 (eleven years ago)

health tracking is something imho the vast majority of people pro arent that interested in, payments almost nowhere accepts it yet, notifications ok this seems like a pretty terrible experince, def seems like its at the very least prob not a good idea to get the first one

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:16 (eleven years ago)

I don't want to share with anyone. I don't want to make it easier to pay for anything. I don't want my heartbeats in a cloud. To be honest, I really don't give a fuck what time it is right now. It's either night or day, hungry or not hungry.

very much part of the culture atm

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 15:22 (eleven years ago)

I have no interest in this, but I would never wear a watch either. I guess people who are into watches might like it, but it seems like there are less and less of those people.

To be fair though, I didn't really get the point of the ipad initially either (why not just buy a small laptop which can do more things?), so I'm not sure why I'm commenting here, since I'm obviously not very smart when it comes to predicting the success of this stuff.

most people probably don't want to actually see the horrifying data about how unfit they are
