kinetic sand
― *tera, Monday, 17 November 2014 15:40 (eleven years ago)
Oh jeez. I'm scared of that stuff. My mother-in-law mentioned it on saturday when we were talking about Christmas presents for my kid. The commercial said "there's no mess" and I'm like "you didn't test this on kids, did you?"
― holla back for a dope nakh (how's life), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:24 (eleven years ago)
Haha! My mother-in-law said the same thing to me a month after I had discovered it at a toy store. I wasn't impressed and August hated the texture.

John Lewis Christmas ad.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 19 November 2014 09:39 (eleven years ago)
John Lewis Christmas ad wasn't even a thing until that one- 3 years ago or something? - with the woman getting old as she listened to Billy Joel and now it's cemented into the whole ritual it seems. A brilliant marketing trick. The ads from all the other shops trying to catch up are more embarrassing.

Had to google 'kinetic sand'. So it's a kind of foam play-doh stuff? That 'breathes motion' yeah no thanks
― kinder, Wednesday, 19 November 2014 13:00 (eleven years ago)
There was an ad for some Channel 4 programme which began, "Always wanted to know what your friends earn?".... uhhhhh, no, why the fuck would I want to know that?

Moon Dough even worse than kinetic sand, head's up.
― pplains, Wednesday, 19 November 2014 14:29 (eleven years ago)
Yeah, I have room for one type of dough in my house. It's Play-Doh. Original Play-Doh will suffice. I'm largely uninterested in technological advances in Play-Doh.

also, shows in which reunited bands play their "classic" albums live straight through
Marcos OTM. A band is a moment. Moments are fleeting. Trying to recreate them is a frankenstein process.

adorno made a snotty comment about the introversion/extroversion binary and reified consciousness. i told a person i was dating about this once and she said that adorno sounded like an elitist dick and it's no wonder he was pro lenin. i remember not caring about her being annoyed at me.

tbh i care about the interview because north koreans have been fritzled out of the whole world and they are being controlled by an unfit leader (to put it mildly)
beyond that who cares about sony and franco is of no consequence to me whatsoeverdo people care about the movie?

tbh adorno probably was a dick. this hardcore marxist dude i knew in college would get in so many drunken arguments with people. i was talking about some jazz records i bought and this dude was like "WELL DO YOU KNOW WHAT ADORNO HAS TO SAY ABOUT JAZZ???" from what i know "adorno on jazz" is Something I Just Don't Care About.
― marcos, Friday, 19 December 2014 16:36 (eleven years ago)
I didn't even know the movie existed until last week. Someone made a joke about it and I recognized that they were talking about something I didn't understand at all, and just let it go.
― Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 19 December 2014 16:48 (eleven years ago)
The Interview doesn't interest me but the desperate circus of writers and "thinkers" to find free-speech principles in our international-conglomerate theme-park world has never seemed loonier.

agreed on Adorno's opinions on mass culture and R&R Hall of Fame.
My turn: I Don't Care About....and won't read or listen to....presidential candidate speculation, more than a year out from a presidential election.
― Vic Perry, Friday, 19 December 2014 16:56 (eleven years ago)
have stopped giving a shit who the president is, full stop. it's the sort of thing that only matters if you have something to lose or gain and there are too many variables for it to make a difference apart from perceived changes influenced by opinion and political voodoo
― (曇り) (clouds), Friday, 19 December 2014 17:51 (eleven years ago)
If you live in the USA, then you do have many things to lose if the Republicans have full control of the Congress and the White House. Things like clean air and water enforcement, safeguards against discrimination in the workplace, a functioning Labor Relations Board, OSHA, a Social Security system not handed over to Wall Street and the big banks to plunder, higher fuel efficiency standards on new autos, public lands not sold out to private investors. The list is very long tbrr.
― oh no! must be the season of the rich (Aimless), Friday, 19 December 2014 17:59 (eleven years ago)
oh yes of course, but i mean the president specifically. the greater interlocking machinations of the kyriarchy have a much more profound influence obv.

'the interview' otm, it's actually amazing how swiftly certain types of people on social media how swiftly and without a noticeable decrease in outrage levels have shifted their gaze from ferguson/eric garner/the corrupt police state & judicial system to "hey sony pulled a rogen/franco from release!"
