you can get an adapter that uses the weird lil - what is it? - svga out?, on your computer? & that transforms to hdmi

apple tv works just fine and I can also download to my pad to watch on the train. watched three films today. Very much hooked.

Today's film in Denmark is The Second Game, the film Corneliu Porumboiu made, consisting of a vhs-copy of a tv-game from 88 with him and his dad talking on top of it. That's arty. Also, it's pretty fun for fans of Porumboiu.

It was fun to watch at a film festival with an audience consisting mainly of football fans. I hope they got something out of it.

sadly my internet connection at home is too slow to reliably stream this, especially if i try to feed it through to my TV. i tried to watch "the strange little cat" that way and it stuttered every minute or so. but Mubi /is/ kind of amazing.

This has happened before, I know from experience that it will work fine on my tablet but do I want to watch the next 7hr of this film on a 9in screen? it's either that or, realistically, never see this film. v annoying

Watch Eduardo Williams' The Human Surge! I will definitely rewatch. When first I saw it, I didn't really think much of it, but parts of it has stayed with me and I've been thinking more and more about some of the stuff that it did.

The Gold Bug is a pretty great example of how to deal with weird co-production schemes as well. Fun film.

In the US they are all directed by either Mariano Llinás or Alejo Moguillansky.

Intend to see all apart from Extraordinary Stories which is four hours long.

I watched the very beginning of Extraordinary Stories and would have watched more if I had time. Also watched the first two sections of Balnearios which I really enjoyed, but again didn't have time to finish. Would definitely want to see both in the entirety. Probably better to see a four hour movie in a theater though.

Mubi always creeps up on me. I intend to watch another, then finally have to download to phone when something is expiring and I watch as match as I can before it is wiped.

So, good luck to me with the three early Hitchcocks.

Or maybe I can finish watching the early Renoir Whirlpool of Fate that is already expired but still exists on my phone for a few more moments.

Terrific Hong Sang-soo retro on MUBI, watched three so far..the first two are gone but do catch the others if you haven't

Yeah I’m loving it, and uncharacteristically managing to remember to see them before they drop off - which is more than I can say about their wenders retro, all of which I have missed so far (meaning that I have still never seen a wenders film)

Wenders is ok sometimes but that stuff comes around again and again. The Sang-soo retro is really useful because you hardly get a film of his on a good run.

Having said that I should watch Paris Texas actually.

One thing I was hoping they'd have and don't is Andrew Noren's Kodak Ghost Poems, which gets prominent mention in J. Hoberman's book about New York art in the '60s. But I'm amazed at what is on there.

Basically everything I've seen there is great, and I can't wait to see the rest. Saw a Vinothraj at Berlin a few years back, made me seek out Pebbles as well, he is one of the best new Indian underground directors recently, and they aren't always easy to watch.

I don't know if it's there worldwide, but 'Infinite Football' by Corneliu Porumboiu is one of my favorite films of the 10's. Hilarious, beautiful, and most of all willing to ask the central question 'why do things the same way, when we could try to do things better?' which feels remarkably profound at the end of the film.

infinite football is so great, love that they’re playing that one

They also have The Second Game, where Porumboiu watches an old Romanian football game with his dad, who was the referee. I enjoyed that a lot as a live experience, sitting in the cinema and everyone kinda getting caught up in the worst game ever from 1988, with incredibly droll commentary on top. But it's a tough stream, I think.

I recommend both Offside and Diamantino from that series, btw. Offside is on MUBI too. Panahi might be my favourite director of the 21. century at this point.

Diamantino is good yeah, one aspect of it is it anticipated the far-right resurgence in Portugal. Which in retrospect doesn't sound that impressive, but I'll admit I truly thought our experiences with fascism were too recent for that (also I guess I didn't predict the changes in immigration).

loved The Second Game, his father is so taciturn that it turns into an unintentional comedy. it's an extra on the UK Infinite Football bluray btw.
