Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:10 (eleven years ago)

maybe he meant Mascherano

Number None, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:11 (eleven years ago)

"absolutely shite" has been this World Cup's "not as flamboyant as expected" tbf

ogmor, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:11 (eleven years ago)

Yeah, he hasn't been all that (shite is overstating it though) (xxp)

Tommy McTommy (Tom D.), Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:12 (eleven years ago)

worst pass completion of the tournament against Switzerland. Gave away the ball 51 times

Number None, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:12 (eleven years ago)

everyone has been down on di maria, & it's true he's been profligate w/ possession, but he has also been the most dynamic element in a quite cautious & slow argentina side (ignoring the awesome nigeria match), so he could afford to be. also he scored a crucial goal. lots of dominant teams/players have been judged v harshly this WC, oh well.

ogmor, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:26 (eleven years ago)

an ilxor had an ff team named Džeko Privilege last year, always meant to doff my cap to that one

Hello and thanks.

oppet, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:27 (eleven years ago)

Yeah Argentina have looked markedly more pedestrian since Di Maria's injury. Kroos should be in there over him and Pjanic though.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:30 (eleven years ago)

Those ref decisions in the Italy game, people refuse to acknowledge, were actually correct. Totti dived, and the offside were offside. In a game before that there was a bad call, but the reffing was so overblown, like a ref never had made a mad call before.

Um, no: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ZPd8YmFcvtQ#t=106

Plasmon, Sunday, 13 July 2014 14:58 (eleven years ago)

Man, those games sound epic with that music. I suppose you can see how the Tommasi and Morientes offsides could be given - but the Totti and Joaquin decisions, ffs.

Nice to be reminded of Helguera's existence, haven't thought about him in years.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 15:18 (eleven years ago)

Anyway I kind of want Argentina to take this, though I really can't justify this beyond <3 for Masch, plus their supporters putting on a good show.

The Argies fans deserve praise for their Creedence Clearwater Revival revival. Bad Moon Rising is back in their top 10 this week bcz the song against Brazil they came up with.

It actually made my Classic Rock most-hated top 10, but I do love their version.

r|t|c, Sunday, 13 July 2014 16:46 (eleven years ago)

Closing ceremony lol. Shakira's mouthing of the song is as bad as Pique's defending.

Torn between excitement for the final and just not wanting the tournament to end.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:34 (eleven years ago)

Xpost : yeah, that wasn't very good, but hits don't lie.

StanM, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:35 (eleven years ago)

who's going to be selfless enough to watch the ITV coverage and be enraged on behalf of the rest of us.

Merdeyeux, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:51 (eleven years ago)

Fantastic lack of decorum to that walkout music, like they're in a Japanese RPG or something.

Thomas Mueller clearly forgotten the words to the anthem there, marvellous.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:55 (eleven years ago)

I sometimes wonder whether itv actually just put the test card on for two hours

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:56 (eleven years ago)

Argentine anthem a marvellous occasion

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:57 (eleven years ago)

Bloody hell though, it's the World Cup final

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:58 (eleven years ago)

Demichelis had the look of man feeling very, very vindicated during the anthem. Which was nice for him.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:58 (eleven years ago)

oh no! Khedira's out!

cajunsunday, Sunday, 13 July 2014 18:58 (eleven years ago)

oh no! Lawro's in!

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:00 (eleven years ago)

i'm hedging my bets

Weird glitch on ESPN.

Don't Want To Know If Only You Were Lonely (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:02 (eleven years ago)

Not sure how stopping a potential Muller one-on-one is a daft foul, but

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:03 (eleven years ago)

Oh, it's the pettiness that's the best thing about the Germans. Especially when it totally fails.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:03 (eleven years ago)

Truly, the "Joe Hart tries to psych out Pirlo" of free-kicks.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:04 (eleven years ago)

Germany are going to let Messi play, then

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:08 (eleven years ago)

Who are those guys in blue? They're attacking!

StanM, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:11 (eleven years ago)

Argentina picked up the hints from Germany against Brazil: Germany's defense is not that great.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:11 (eleven years ago)

lol. They're so ineffective. Germany leaning back, awaiting their chance to lash out
xpost

willem, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:12 (eleven years ago)

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:14 (eleven years ago)

Fuuuck that did not look pleasant.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:17 (eleven years ago)

He good? Xp

, Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)

Eh, he's alright I suppose

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)

(The ref I mean, Kramer not looking too good)

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 13 July 2014 19:19 (eleven years ago)

That'll hurt tomorrow
