Not putting money on that, though.

Probably a fake tbh, though after reading that article about football betting and all the sidebets that go on, I wouldn't be surprised if it were real
there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people making bets on these things, so it's not absurd that in the subset of 'people deciding to make a wacky bet' someone would hit. esp w/ soccer, where there's only so many ways to combine numbers under 10.

er 'had germany brazil 7-0'
― iatee, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 18:16 (eleven years ago)
In the wake of Brazil's 7-1 loss to Germany, there has been plenty of blame to go around, but most of it has fallen on manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. The 65-year-old apologized for the loss in his post-match press conference and described it as the worst day of his professional life. And to make sure the next day wasn't much better, Neymar's agent, Wagner Ribeiro (not to be confused with Fresh Prince of Bell Air star Alfonso Ribeiro), decided to add his unfavorable view of Scolari to the mix.Though his client was unable to play against Germany due to a back injury suffered during Brazil's quarterfinal win over Colombia, Ribeiro mocked Scolari by tweeting a list of the "six prerequisites to become manager of the Brazilian national team. Here's a translation of the list, which is essentially a rundown of Scolari's career lowlights in recent years:1. Go manage Portugal and not win anything.2. Go to Chelsea and get fired.3. Go manage in Uzbekistan.4. Come back to Brazil, take control of a big team, and demote it back to the second division5. Ask to quit 56 days before the end of the league to escape demotion. 6. Be an old jerk, arrogant, repulsive, conceited, and ridiculous.

Cillessen; Kuyt, De Vrij, Vlaar, Martins Indi, Blind; De Jong, Sneijder, Wijnaldum; Robben, van Persie
Romero, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Garay, Rojo, Enzo Pérez, Biglia, Mascherano, Lavezzi, Messi, Higuaín
― Number None, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 18:50 (eleven years ago)
I haven't even noticed Demichelis in this tournament so far and I have a feeling that may change tonight.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 18:55 (eleven years ago)
maybe cillessen will have a crisis of confidence after the krul incident and messi will score 7
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 18:59 (eleven years ago)
only way this tops last night is if it goes 4-4 or more
― which was retweeted by (imago), Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:02 (eleven years ago)
I can't even think of a scenario how this tops last night
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:06 (eleven years ago)
8-1
― caek, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:06 (eleven years ago)
or 7-0
a 5-5 draw would imo top last night. of course if last night had finished 8-0 as it should, nothing would top it
― which was retweeted by (imago), Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:07 (eleven years ago)
yes or 5-5
― caek, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:08 (eleven years ago)
Those are just results, they can't compete on context. Maybe 6-5 Argentina, Messi double hat-trick would approach the suburb last night's ballpark is in.

lol, I did not know about this
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)
Yeah nothing can possibly top Brazil being obliterated in their own backyard, no matter how crazy tonight's game is it just won't have that added extra.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:21 (eleven years ago)
That's a proper Mourinho style midfield 3 for Argentina. No fucking messing with those middle 3.
― pandemic, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:29 (eleven years ago)
I could just about see a scenario where Argentina could beat Germany, but I can't see any way for Netherlands to get anything other than a humping, so I guess I'm reluctantly for Messi et al tonight.
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:41 (eleven years ago)
I wonder if De Jong will be taking weapons with him on to the pitch tonight?

Ian Wright constantly calling Hoddle "the gaffer" cracks me up for some reason.

Presumably he loves Hoddle because he was the only England manager prepared to take Wright to a major tournament.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:46 (eleven years ago)
Yeah but he never appeared in a documentary sitting on the bench repeating "it's made for Wrighty this eh...made for Wrighty"

5-5, 3 all after 90 minutes, two red cards and the penalty shootout going all through the team until the goalkeepers have to take one.
― groovypanda, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:52 (eleven years ago)
O'Neill just brought up the play-off keeper substitution, summarising Zeljko Kalac thusly:
6'7", absolutely useless, but I thought he could save a penalty

― pandemic, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:57 (eleven years ago)
can't pick a side in this one tbh
basically I only want arg to win if it means messi putting in a totally transcendent performance
― gbx, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 19:59 (eleven years ago)
0-0aet, messi scores the only penalty by resisting krul's manipulation and hoofing it straight down the middle

Is everyone wearing the proper shorts now an official thing?

Did I miss it or have ITV now canned 'Braazil Braazil'?
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 20:02 (eleven years ago)
0-0aet, 44-44 on pens when the sides get dispensation to allow the managers to take them, van gaal scores with a panenka, sabella scuffs a shot that fails to reach the goal
― pandemic, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 20:02 (eleven years ago)
