I will never want Germany to win any game again

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:50 (eleven years ago)

Some UI guy is getting a bonus for adding scrolling to the score box graphics.

schwantz, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:50 (eleven years ago)

Forgot about the 3/4 playoff game!!!

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:51 (eleven years ago)

wonder if brazil will even field a full team for that

dan m, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:51 (eleven years ago)

Most of the brazil players were on verge of tears throughout the 2nd half

cajunsunday, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:52 (eleven years ago)

felt for the players huddling and getting booed tae fuck

sktsh, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:52 (eleven years ago)

Schweini!

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:53 (eleven years ago)

Are players as superstitious as fans cos if I was a German player I'd be thinking shit the final is gonna go wrong now.

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:54 (eleven years ago)

dude i know says he put money on Germany to win by six or more, netting him £480. which presumably means an outlay of £2 or something?

Kiss Screaming Seagull Her Seagull Her (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:54 (eleven years ago)

rioting has started apparently :-(

or maybe it's just tail lights xps

john wahey (NickB), Tuesday, 8 July 2014 21:59 (eleven years ago)

Gonna try and work this out using transfermarkt.co.uk xpost

G
12 Júlio César 3m to Inter
D
4 David Luiz 50m to PSG
D
6 Marcelo 5.7m to Real (worth a lot more now obv)
D
13 Dante 7m to Bayern
D
23 Maicon 12m to City
M
5 Fernandinho 28m to City
M 8 Paulinho 10.5m to Spurs
M
7 Hulk 48m to Zenit
M
11 Oscar 22m to Chelsea
M
17 Luiz Gustavo 14m to Wolfsburg
M
20 Bernard 22m to Shaktar
F
9 Fred 13m to Lyon
M 19 Willian 31m to Chelsea

Gets me at 266m. Most football teams in history have never cost that much. Neymar (to Barca) and Silva (to PSG) must add 100m to that, obviously.

I could be wrong but I think the whole back 5 had also won the champions league (cesar and maicon at inter, luiz at chelsea, marcelo at real and dante at bayern) and i'm unsure whether oscar was at chelsea when they did it. So maybe 6 CL winners?

And I don't think I've seen many teams ever perform worse.

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:04 (eleven years ago)

oh i presume gustavo was a cl winner with bayern too? making it maybe 7.

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:05 (eleven years ago)

A least the average goals per game in this wc corrected itself again

nostormo, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:06 (eleven years ago)

The hige average

nostormo, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:06 (eleven years ago)

feeling really bereft that brazil scored. that wasn't supposed to happen. :(

which was retweeted by (imago), Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:07 (eleven years ago)

remember when ilf came together to watch the 78 wc final? did we ever do another *live* viewing of a classic game or was that a one off?

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:07 (eleven years ago)

Unless the BBC's table hasn't updated, Hamezz is still top of the Golden Boot standings.

William Bloody Swygart, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:08 (eleven years ago)

yah one ahead of muller iirc 6 over 5

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:11 (eleven years ago)

Raccoon Tanuki, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:12 (eleven years ago)

germany must be feeling pretty good. germans in brazil should leave just to be safe. also, polish in poland should leave just to be safe.

chikungunya manatee (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:12 (eleven years ago)

The rioting thing was mentioned by the belgian commentator btw xposts

StanM, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:14 (eleven years ago)

xps 78 final was a one-off, yeah. If we ever do another, how about doing the 2014 semi-final?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:15 (eleven years ago)

There need to be 6 goals in the last games for this to be the highest scoring WC ever

not sure if 3rd place play off counts because it's a friendly and nobody cares

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:15 (eleven years ago)

for it to be the best world cup ever however, all that needs to happen is for tonight's result to continue to have happened

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:16 (eleven years ago)

It counts for the golden boot anyway

Number None, Tuesday, 8 July 2014 22:17 (eleven years ago)

If Holland get through and play the way they've played up until now then Germany will absolutely destroy them as well. Argentina keep their shape a bit better and don't pour forward in the same way but either way it could be am incredible final.

David Luiz will drive Brazil to victory tonight. He's been my star of this World Cup. Such passion/commitment/determination. #BRAvGER

It's going to be hilarious when Germany loses 1-0 to Argentina with a late Messi goal.
