ey, I was a noninterested US soccer fan during 2006, only watched a few matches, none of them the US, and here I am watchin em all now! it's workin'!

curious how it plays out also. anecdotal but it seems like more ppl i know are following the wc in general and not just the us, much more so than prior world cups. i saw a fratboy in a pirlo jersey the other day.

I've been watching it instead of working but to be fair it doesn't take much for me to do that

I like that football doesn't reward athleticism per se & that there's no one dominant type of physique cf. messi deciding to embrace being short as it gives him a low centre of gravity

i'd call running several km for 90/120 minutes athleticism
