Oh, and he's not even allowed to enter the stadium when Uruguay plays. Lol.

A possible appeal could only change the € 100.000 fine, the rest of the sentence can't be appealed.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:01 (twelve years ago)

four months seems harsh imo

gbx, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:02 (twelve years ago)

Nah, summer months innit. A doozy.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:02 (twelve years ago)

Do think it's odd they ban him playing for Liverpool for about 2 months, when the season starts, which is like what, 12 games? And for Uruguay only 9.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:03 (twelve years ago)

length of punishment probably due to his previous misdemeanours

john wahey (NickB), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:04 (twelve years ago)

All football activity including training?

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:05 (twelve years ago)

Power league 5 a side?

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:05 (twelve years ago)

still works out to ten matches of the prem

gbx, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:05 (twelve years ago)

xp

gbx, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:05 (twelve years ago)

When does fifa 2015 come out?

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:06 (twelve years ago)

NickB, that's indeed what was mentioned, that it was his third time already.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:06 (twelve years ago)

Oh fuck right off, that's an outrage

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:06 (twelve years ago)

Also banned from signing new contracts til October?

Blandford Forum, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:07 (twelve years ago)

I know id go fucking insane if fifa comes out and i am banned from it

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:07 (twelve years ago)

Xp

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:08 (twelve years ago)

Oh fuck right off, that's an outrage

There's only one person to blame, and that's the mentalist himself. Nobody makes him keep biting people.

Turtleneck Work Solutions (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:08 (twelve years ago)

ah well same as last season really.

Have FIFA announced if they're doing retrospective punishments for Sakho and Giroud?

pandemic, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:09 (twelve years ago)

Or does video evidence only apply to Suarez?

pandemic, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:09 (twelve years ago)

dunno how many people did they bite?

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:10 (twelve years ago)

> Have FIFA announced if they're doing retrospective punishments for Sakho and Giroud?

and shearer?

koogs, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:11 (twelve years ago)

There's whoever handed down this absurd punishment to blame too

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:12 (twelve years ago)

As long as we're clear on what will and won't be subject to video review fair enough. Seems a strange criteria that elbowing an opponent if not spotted by the ref means no further sanction, but as long as they stick with that okay.

pandemic, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:14 (twelve years ago)

Or it's Suarez's fault for, y'know, biting someone. Again. You'd think he might have noticed it's frowned upon the last two times he did it and got banned, it's not exactly surprising

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:17 (twelve years ago)

cmon you can't lay the blame on suarez. he's being singled out! other people did things. three bites is hardly any over a period of several years

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:19 (twelve years ago)

lolz

leave the web boys alone (darraghmac), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:20 (twelve years ago)

for this re:teeth much thanks

leave the web boys alone (darraghmac), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:20 (twelve years ago)

not surprisingly lenient, but still lenient imo

caek, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:21 (twelve years ago)

It's Suarez's fault for biting, someone else's for overpunishing.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:21 (twelve years ago)

great value though, total legend #footballlad

caek, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:21 (twelve years ago)

i don't have an issue with him getting banned for a bit (ha ha), but, eg, if this had happened in august that would net out to a half-season absence from league play

gbx, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:21 (twelve years ago)

xp's Isn't it 3 bites in four years now? he's stepping it up! Sakho should get a ban for sure mind you, Liverpool lucky England are out of the cup so they've got some players left for next season

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:22 (twelve years ago)

FIFA cannot ban for a specific number of domestic games afaik xp

caek, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:22 (twelve years ago)

i don't think the FA will add to this, but i think they could if they wanted to (e.g. if FIFA had just sent him home from the world cup i'm sure they would have done)

caek, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:23 (twelve years ago)

great stuff at https://twitter.com/RAWK_Meltdown as per

caek, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:23 (twelve years ago)

It means he will miss the first nine games of the Premier League season.

v presumptuous

clockpuncher (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:25 (twelve years ago)

like

if LFC haven't written a "we don't pay you for suspension" into his contract by now, that's on them

but it is shitty that they bear the brunt of this

but then eh bytimes their defence of this guy has been shitty in itself.

not being able to sell the clown is harsh, but otherwise the risks of owning a liability are risky film (doctored) at 11

Uruguayan fa would be lucky to escape censure beyond this for their behaviour since imo

leave the web boys alone (darraghmac), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:25 (twelve years ago)

IK - you could get some T-shirts printed up?

Turtleneck Work Solutions (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:25 (twelve years ago)

is 'not being able to sell' confirmed?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:26 (twelve years ago)

Can you all shut the fuck up with the whole there's no difference between elbowing and biting? Though it's not desired, you do expect a certain rough and tumble around the ball. This rough and tumble is expected to come in certain forms, like shoves and elbows. Biting is outside this expectation. It also, unlike an elbow, but like the spitting someone mentioned before, is able to transfer communicable disease. It is both worse as a risk and worse for being further outside expected behaviour. It is qualitatively different. Idk, it's like if a boxer punched someone in the balls, you'd all be arguing, 'but it's only a punch, why isn't every punch treated this way?'. Because good reasons. Now shhh.

Popture, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:27 (twelve years ago)

FIFA in not getting a thing right non-shockah.

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:28 (twelve years ago)

Eh I've hardly been one-eyed when it comes to his past offences, but this is stupidly harsh

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:28 (twelve years ago)

idk, the only people I've seen saying he's being overpunished are liverpool fans so

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:28 (twelve years ago)

Because good reasons

Get to fuck with that

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:29 (twelve years ago)

is de facto identical to his previous bans for the same offence IK. do you think those were harsh?

caek, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:29 (twelve years ago)

IK i frankly can't believe you are arguing that with a straight face. caek otm this is just on the lenient side of the line.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:30 (twelve years ago)

i expected 6 months tbh, it clearly isn't harsh given his recidivism

nobody shd shut up about the tolerance extended to other forms of assault in the game, as long as we accept this is a separate and justified case

there is something iffy in an arbitrary application of post-game evidence - so codify it

clockpuncher (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:30 (twelve years ago)

de facto how? It's four months from all football.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 26 June 2014 14:30 (twelve years ago)

I don't think it's harsh. It's the *third* time he committed the same offence he's been punished for before. What it is, is extremely stupid and mental. He needs professional help or he'll just do it again next year. (please bite Gerrard next time)
