I watched that vine 1-300 compilation last summer and it was a rare time when I needed to shout my laughter out to get it out my system.
Watched the 301-600 video a few days ago and that was great too.

I'd always assumed that Limmy's work was a big outlet for his madness and that day to day he'd be quite diffident and socially anxious, but on his book readings he's just been affably commanding the attention of hundreds of people like an old school game show host, so naturally funny and at ease the whole time

Is the book any good? The deadpan bombshell he dropped in the middle of the second story he read last night had people next to me doubled over crying with laughter for minutes afterwards

I downloaded the audiobook, it's good. No doubling over for me yet but I've drawn glances with the occasional snort-laugh. It's exactly as it says, daft wee stories, often grotesque, often with ironic punchlines you can spot a mile off, lots of great one-liners. Not earth-shattering but it's lovely to hear him read, he's a rare storyteller

saw him on friday and it was entertaining but a strange atmos with braying crowd shouting catchphrases I hadn't heard any of the stories and they were fun I'd like to listen to the audiobook and he did the q&a handling questions such as "do you think you deserve to be world famous?" wasn't sure how it was going to go but he seemed to be enjoying it

what was his answer to "do you think you deserve to be world famous?"? saw him in manchester, was amazing but then again i'm a signed-up ultrafanboy. kinda wish someone would ask him about his estranged ex-con brother's claims that he came up with most of limmy's material, but don't know if that'd be going too far. he has been v candid in the q&as though, talking about how 'eckied dad' is so funny because of the line 'i'll be with you soon hen', as his mother is dead.

started rewatching limmy's show s3 in advance and was shocked by how poor episode 1 is, esp the first half. fairly sure it picks up as the series goes on, but there are some dismal dismal sketches in that one

Whatever the truth about him using his brother's ideas, I find a lot of his brother's own videos/audio unpleasant. Especially interviewing that crying woman on the street, unless it wasn't his brother.

xp. his brother is a bitter, bigoted (jailed for racist abuse of a journalist online), unfunny arsehole. clearly a fantasist. the idea that limmy stole anything from him is absurd, as evidenced by a) how incredibly unfunny his brother is and b) the sheer length and breadth of original, funny content limmy has created over the last decade or so.

like his twitter bio used to bemoan the fact that limmy had stolen his name, ignoring the fact that it's incredibly common in the west of scotland for brothers to have the same surname-based nickname at school.

I've not seen the brothers stuff and I dare say there were a few jokes shared earlier that Limmy made use of but the guys been making comic sketches for about 10-12 years now

limmy a wee bit of a hard-sell for north americans wi his accent and aw, ive managed to get a couple of people into his stuff though.

the first series of limmy's show doesn't hold up that well, he's said himself it seems a little slow-paced. subsequent series he makes more cuts, sketches are a bit more kinetic.

Show gets better when he gets better supporting actors in.

aye I would also say I prefer the supporting cast in series 2 and 3

The supporting players in seasons 2-3 are really amazing. So many sketches would be way less funny without them.

There's a Sky Arts 8min Christmas piece. The parts with his terrified face are the best.

Just seen his long interview with Richard Herring, the parts about his dad dancing on drugs and societies based on what kind of jokes they could take was hilarious.

I feel conflicted about everything being turned into Gifs, but his terrified reactions in the Xmas short are really ripe for using on forums as Gifs.

anyone go to the limmy live shows last month? bunch of us went up from manchester. verdict: flawed but good, only really for full throttle limmy fans. bit panto in parts, lot of bits fell flat, lot of bits belly-achingly funny. can kinda see that he's not a great live performer but gets by on charm and skill of supporting cast. fair few old sketches rehashed to work live, often falling a bit flat. v expensive for what it was but hey, who'd begrudge him that. pretty sure he's touring the rest of the uk later this year - if you're a fan, go, but don't take people expecting it to convert them. i dunno if i'd spend another 30 odd quid on the manchester gig but i'd like to see how he's developed it. he's known for being meticulous and there's a fair amount of flab that could be trimmed

I find most of these really cunty and hard to watch. I've tried to watch the art school one a couple of times and lasted about a minute each time.
