Ken C always beats me without me ever seeing where it's coming from. I always beat SteveM. Casuistry beat me about five times in a row, but then I beat him last time and now it's going to the wire (but I'm probably going to lose):

I'm sitting here, playing through games, when suddenly I realize that the game I'm playing is the one against Stevem. I think, that's funny, I thought I lost this game, did we start a new one without me realizing it? And then I realize that, no, apparently Steve didn't notice the mating move! And now I've got him in a knight fork and am going to win his queen.

I don't know what the moral is, though.

On move 15, your Q (queen) could have taken (x) what was at square h7 -- in this case, the pawn that you decided to take with your knight (N) instead.

three weeks pass...

I'm in the middle of moving house and I'm going to (temporarily) lose my internet connection at the end of this week, then after that I'm off to France for two weeks holiday, so I won't be playing chess again till late August.

Casuistry & Ken C - hopefully we can get our games finished by Friday morning. If not, please don't kill me on the timeout - I'll be back at some point.

How good do i need to be in order for it not to be a joke playing? I have Chessmaster which they say uses a ranking system very similar to that of the U.S. and my ranking is abt 1300 which they say is an intermediate beginner. I've only been playin for abt two weeks so hopefully this will improve.

I'm just posting this because I'm unduly delighted by it. I'm white:

He could have had the satisfaction of b1=Q but it would still have been Qxg7# the next move -- there was no way to avoid that.

I'm sure my opening idea, of grabbing his rook with the bishop, could have been defeated otherwise, but I think this is why that 4...b5 is discouraged.
