dr morbius is watching football, this day is truly bizarre. i put a fiver on spain to win the world cup at 6 to 1 earlier today (and another fiver on uruguay at 33 to 1), im sure the odds have flown up now

That RVP goal reminded me of the Bergkamp book, the bits where you realise just how incredibly quick Bergkamp's brain was on the pitch. It was like watching one absolutely perfect decision - he sizes up the options and picks the absolute best one, which was far from the most obvious one; I'm pretty sure almost all footballers in that situation opt to take a touch to control it then make their decision, but he... he must have visualised it, mustn't he? Must've seen himself doing it in his head before he did it.

Also helps he had the confidence in his body to execute it perfectly, of course.
