Orson Wellies (in orbit), Saturday, 14 June 2014 13:46 (twelve years ago)

Facebook page says they'll be open on Monday. (Xp)

Dan, have you ever listened to the soundtrack of The Harder They Come?

That's How Strong My Dub Is (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 14 June 2014 14:53 (twelve years ago)

Nope.

dan selzer, Saturday, 14 June 2014 23:11 (twelve years ago)

Well then I think it's high time for you to get into reggae, cowboy.

That's How Strong My Dub Is (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 14 June 2014 23:33 (twelve years ago)

I like some. Got tons of Augustus Pablo and King Tubby and really love Sister Nancy, but there's only so much time in a day, you know?

dan selzer, Sunday, 15 June 2014 01:13 (twelve years ago)

Fair enough.

We're trying to avoid Astoria until after the sports are over.

dan selzer, Monday, 23 June 2014 23:48 (eleven years ago)

If only I had made it to one of those terazza shows. Maybe they'd still be in business.

Hier Komme Die Warum Jetzt (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 24 June 2014 00:49 (eleven years ago)

They are back open as of last Monday. Did you miss that post?

That's How Strong My Dub Is (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 24 June 2014 01:03 (eleven years ago)

Oh good.

Hier Komme Die Warum Jetzt (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 24 June 2014 01:06 (eleven years ago)

I had one of those only in queens moments tonight where my train was stuck for a really long time and I wound up in this long conversation with an old Greek guy, a bunch of Indian tourists on their way to check out Costco and a somewhat meek southern baptist recent transplant from Virginia

Hier Komme Die Warum Jetzt (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 24 June 2014 01:08 (eleven years ago)

Lots of honking tonight too. Some guys that play with Hermeto visiting from Brazil at Terraza tonight

That's How Strong My Dub Is (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 01:20 (eleven years ago)

Good drummer too, playing a lot more than when I've seen him before. Inspired by the visit from his compatriots.

That's How Strong My Dub Is (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 01:26 (eleven years ago)

Hurting, you got to make a point of heading over to JH to see Ari Hoenig one of these days.

Riot In #9 Dream (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 2 July 2014 02:38 (eleven years ago)

In honor of Bobby Womack passing, thread should be renamed Across 111th Street.

Riot In #9 Dream (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 3 July 2014 16:29 (eleven years ago)

Across 111th Street, Place, Drive, or Road?

'arry Goldman (Hurting 2), Thursday, 3 July 2014 16:32 (eleven years ago)

Haha, that's what thread title should be.

Avenue.

Riot In #9 Dream (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 3 July 2014 16:35 (eleven years ago)

Wonder what happened to hippie busker on 82nd. He was pretty good. Did a solid version of "Sister Goldenhair" a few weeks ago.

Great show at Terraza tonight. They are on break now so you can run right over for second set.

Rec for a place to drink and/or maybe eat near the forest hills tennis stadium?

Virginia Plain, Friday, 19 September 2014 13:51 (eleven years ago)

Because you're going to see the 'Mats?

Code Money Changes Everything (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 19 September 2014 13:55 (eleven years ago)

no, she's going to see Rod Laver.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 September 2014 14:29 (eleven years ago)

Ha. I was going to guess Phil Lesh.

Code Money Changes Everything (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 19 September 2014 14:48 (eleven years ago)

I have no advice, bcz the only time i've been to that stadium was to see Costello in '84. (Not Lou.)

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 September 2014 14:57 (eleven years ago)

Ha, I probably was at the same show. Was the opening act Talk Talk?

Code Money Changes Everything (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 19 September 2014 15:07 (eleven years ago)

No, that was the Hudson River Pier in '82.... Gary Barnacle?

Jack & Nellie's on Ascan is a decent gastropub with good atmosphere. Station House is a good beer bar but gets a little jocky at times. A lot of locals also like Dirty Pierre's but I haven't been.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 19 September 2014 15:23 (eleven years ago)

no, that was Joe Jackson's opener!

This is not helping VPlain one iota. xp

You are right about Joe Jackson though.

Code Money Changes Everything (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 19 September 2014 15:31 (eleven years ago)

How far is Nick's pizza from the stadium? Probably be rammed.

dan selzer, Friday, 19 September 2014 15:43 (eleven years ago)

Not that far -- thought about recommending it, but it's more of a place to "eat and possibly drink" than vice versa. And as you note, not a lot of seating and probably will be crowded on a concert day. I also had surprisingly good food at Agora recently, and Bangkok Cuisine is decent thai. And there's also a Bareburger.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 19 September 2014 15:51 (eleven years ago)

Thanks! I think I'll try Station House--seems most convenient.

Virginia Plain, Friday, 19 September 2014 18:38 (eleven years ago)

Mutual friend of mine and Alex in NYC is going and has extra tickets he needs to sell. I'd go but am under the weather.
