when i first started buying/smoking on the reg, my main drug buddy at the rec shop where we both worked would always help out one of our middle aged toker/customers to score small amounts of decent weed. He didn't do it for personal gain, but out of a sense of smoking-karmic-togetherness, and that's always stuck w/ me.

i am now that middle aged toker and eternally grateful to the young scamps who help me out w decent weed etc.

so cultivate the young, and do other ppl something kind, when you can

if you go in vaguely talking about migraines or anxiety or whatever, do you get asked lots of questions?

I have legit issues (imo) but the doc I got my card from didn't ask too many questions, it took maybe an hour all told.

and of course the shop I go to now is run by a guy I used to live next door to, he doesn't even look at my card

currently sitting at the "none"/"pretend toke" level but I had been doing about 1/8th to 1/4 a week (smoking a bowl or two every day by myself, occasional rollups w/ friends) until I dropped it for New Year's

... now taking probably 3000 mg/day of "omega fatty acids", though

Iago: a half-ounce is like $150-300 of weed (depending on quality), there is no way you're smoking that on yr own in a night unless you're rolling fat blunts and hotboxing the basement

Hey Bernard, thanks for the info. I'm going to ask the dude next time what the weight or whatever is of what I'm buying. I get like 400 bucks worth every couple weeks so it sounds like I may be doing 1/2 ounce a week? I do a phone service--I text, they call me when they are nearing my corner, I get in their car and do the transaction.

Is the weed noticeably better in California? I wonder where mine in Brooklyn comes from!

I did not fit into this poll. If I happen to have it then a lot (every night or a bunch of times on the weekend days) but these days that happens like 3x a year so most weeks it's none.

Remain unconvinced that weed is any good once you hit 30. I diligently try because of the benefits to creativity, abstract thought, and engagement with books, video games, and especially music. 50% of time I just get vaguely confused and hungry. 25% of time I get uncomfortable, anxious, or "feel old" and the remaining 25% actually have the effect I remember from my early twenties.

About to turn 40, I buy a half every 9 months or so which works out to maybe half a gram per week. Basically I take one hit before I walk the dog or watch my hour of episodic television every day and I'm good. I never bothered with a medical card cause it was easy enough to find friends of friends in Seattle or Portland which I visit pretty regularly. Shit's cheap and abundant. Stores here in WA hopefully open soon so even that minor hassle will be gone.

I quit for six weeks for the first time in years to see what that was like and realize weed totally eliminates a couple weird anxieties and causes no problems for me; my wife can't wait for me to start again and be less anxious and paranoid.

I can attest that, for me, over 40, strong weed has the potential to make for a night of "fuck...my life decisions, what shall I do about them" instead of "wow, 70s Bowie sounds terrific" a lot, but the chance of just soaring with great metal is high. I know a dude in his early 30s who also reports that the last couple times he smoked out, he just ended up in an obsessive-thought loop and it sucked, and he's turned it down since, because those obsessive-thought weed loops are rough when there's actual-life stuff running around in them

(in LA, it's hard to go too many blocks without seeing a sign for a weed doctor: walk in, pay c.$30, get prescription valid for 1 year. some will require proof of in-state address.)

And I'd say two bags of 25 10mg candies a week. Some weeks none also.
