is it bad to be applying to jobs on monster.com while on a temp job?
NO

Still going to that DJ set thing by my and matt's friend tonight, and they fixed the flyer so it lines up. Apparently the gif from the other day was a "beta".

It's going to be goofy, but it's free!
what is the Xippo Lounge like?

has anyone seen aesop rock live?
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:39 (sixteen years ago) link
I get a feeling in the fall...a feeling of great possibility. Like when I'm walking down the sidewalk if I turn around or turn the corner there will be something really great there. It's the opposite of a feeling of impending doom--I can feel a great calm looming.
Also, I always feel ready to start a love affair with some wonderful boy.
― Jesse, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:40 (sixteen years ago) link
I don't really know what the place is like, and I have seen Aesop Rock before.
― dan m, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link
Jesse and I feel the same way about fall. Except for the wonderful boy part.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link
It's like, "Soon, I will be wearing sweaters." This makes the world seem like a benevolent place.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:45 (sixteen years ago) link
worth seeing, dan?
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:47 (sixteen years ago) link
I can't wait till the smell comes! And the sound of leaves rustling around!
MUST FIND PARTNER BEFORE THE GREAT SLEEP COMES UPON US sort of feeling. It's like how a cut flower that is stops getting water suddenly opens up and releases pollen all over the place--the coming greater death makes me want the little death.

la petit mort
You are a poet today. Fall weather brings out the romantic in you! That's so sweet!
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:49 (sixteen years ago) link
xps I would say so, yeah. The time I saw him was at the Pfork fest in 2006, and he was performing with Mr. Lif, who I am much more familiar with. It was hot as hell, so that detracted from my enjoyment a bit, but it was still really cool.
― dan m, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:50 (sixteen years ago) link
Like I think I drank 2 bottles of water during their performance, and I was mostly standing still!
In you too Kenan!

How about this gem from the Faggotry thread: "the object of your goo"

That is a technical discussion strictly. I am nowhere near the weird, sleep-deprived goat boy I was yesterday.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:52 (sixteen years ago) link
he's playing here on saturday & leaf & I are trying to decide if we should go.
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:53 (sixteen years ago) link
I would. He's a pretty amazing mc. I saw him at an in-store a couple-few years ago. It was tiny and cramped, but very very good.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 18:56 (sixteen years ago) link
I had bulgogi for lunch.
― Jesse, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:03 (sixteen years ago) link
I had beef with sweet green beans and peanuts. One of the agents bought the marketing department lunch at Big Bowl. It was pretty good!

Where's he playing, Kelsey?
― Jordan, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:05 (sixteen years ago) link
dan, so is that the kind of thing people will be dancing at? sounds kind of fun. but not sure how it would match up with gig at empty bottle.
― colette, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:14 (sixteen years ago) link
I assume there will be dancing, yes. The way it was described to me was "if you want to dance, people will be, but if you just want to hang out that is very easy too". It's not like a club thing, I don't think.
― dan m, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link
Really we're just going to support our friend. I am not much of a dancer!

I like First Ave
I think I want to convince Nick to go to the xipp0 dj event, but he probably won't want to since he's gung ho about that bottle show.

totally
― KitCat, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:40 (sixteen years ago) link
yeah, I can't believe I still have an hour and 20 minutes here. I just want to go home and listen to music and play SimCity 2000 and not think about anything anymore.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:42 (sixteen years ago) link
i should have toby take nick to the gig instead of me, and then we could go to the DJ thing, which i suspect i'd like more.
― colette, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:42 (sixteen years ago) link
I go through phases with SimCity 2000, and I have off and on since it came out in 1995. I'll forget about it for months and months, then obsessive build cities for weeks and weeks. Rinse, repeat.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:43 (sixteen years ago) link
i think i went through a period where i was addicted to simcity 2000 in like 1998 or so, on a trip to san diego where i got sick and had to hang out in the hotel a lot.

we're going here tonight http://www.californiaclipper.com/ "Chicago’s only bar with grape soda on the gun"
― Jesse, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:46 (sixteen years ago) link
sarah, have you been to this crafts fair thingy that's tomorrow? is it fun? i kind of want to go, but also want to go to the wine fest that's in old town AND we need to hit the farmers markets. i wonder if all three is too much for one afternoon.
― colette, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:46 (sixteen years ago) link
I cheat. I need all the money in the world so I can build anything I want. I enjoy planning neighborhoods and urban centers and parks and public transportation... I don't want to have to manage money, too.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:46 (sixteen years ago) link
xxp OK SURE TONIGHT YOU WILL GO TO THE WEST SIDE

I love the Clipper.

The guy who invited us said you can get off at California Blue line, but you'd have to walk since there are NO CABS AROUND HERE.
― Jesse, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:48 (sixteen years ago) link
here comes courtney
― Jesse, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:49 (sixteen years ago) link
There are no cabs anywhere in Logan Square. It's weird.
― kenan, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:49 (sixteen years ago) link
Colette - Yes, I've been a couple times at least or maybe I'm just confusing a few different craft fairs... but I've definitely been to this one when it was in the park. It is fun, especially at first, though in the end many people are making the exact same things (ie: yet another stall with homemade pocket mirrors or weird dolls in the same style). It's worth going I'd say over all. I'm a little worried though that it's all on the sidewalk this year, since it took up a large part of wicker park last year, but we'll see...
― KitCat, Friday, 14 September 2007 20:50 (sixteen years ago) link
Is that neighborhood actually DANGEROUS? I am a little wary of walking places these days b/c of all the shootings in my hood. It's got me on edge. And I hear that the Clipper is in a scary area.
