We've got some young Karen people at the school I work at. I was escorting one to the college for a summer school program because he's just a little kid, small for his age and a year younger than the other people in his grade. He's in the 7th grade now and making lots of new friends and he's becoming really independent. He even practically had a girlfriend earlier this year, but she moved away, and he wouldn't admit to liking her anyway. She was a total cutie, though. So many people live at his house! All family. He tells me that at the refugee camp/town/settlement they lived at in Cambodia, nobody pays for their houses. They all just build them together, and then when somebody leaves, the family sells the house for some very small amount.

Worked with karen refugee families in my old housing job, four generations under one roof made them a tough sourcing issue but they were just a pleadure to deal with elsewise
