Finally caught back up and, yeah, Bendela's dismissal to allow room (sic) for Darienne's three uniformly horrifying ball looks to sail into the top 4?

I've cooled off on Dela as the season's progressed and I'm not offended at the thought of her not being in the finals; I'm more offended that promoting Darienne this week is a bald-faced attempt to spice up a comparatively flat, B+ season.

After rolling my eyes through much of last season's tedious Alyssa/Coco rivalry, it's weird to be hungry for even that brand of fabricated drama this time around. There aren't any truly compelling villains in the house. The biggest antagonist -- Laganga -- was loathed because she was a whiny victim, not because she was a ruthless bitch on wheels. Courtney is too nice to be as self-promoting as WIllam, Bianca is too caring to be as gleefully backstabby as the Heathers.

This season, it actually IS Rupaul's Best Friend Race!

Yeah it reminds me of the end of season three after Shangela was finally out -- everything felt kinda 'oh nice' in the final episodes. Which I didn't mind!

I didn't mind it there either. The most toxic of the Heathers and the most unpolished of the Boogers were both gone, leaving the best of both worlds.

Raja's runway looks were so great, but all that backstage stuff was noxious

It was def a love-or-hate throughline. I loved it. For me, it was the only truly successful overall arc of any season.

Though I admit the more recaps I've encountered lead me to believe the loves were in the definite minority.

It certainly made for some of the most emotionally loaded lip syncs, though (Delta vs. Manila; Alexis vs. Yara)

I ~love~ reality drama, but something about the cliqueyness (there's an awful construction) poisoned everything for me. Shangela rattling Mimi's cage? LIVING. Shangela picking fights with Raja? Awful. Hmm, I'm noticing a trend there.

I just finished episode 2 of S3 last night and damn the drama already w like Shangela throwing a drink at mini! It bums me out to think that a Raja turns into a nasty meanie

Mimi deserved a drink in her face, iirc. And Raja was at the very least smart about her MG persona. I was sad for Stacy Lane like everyone else, but Raja describing her pants/cape as the kind of outfit an uptight housewife would wear as her "fun, Christmas party cocktail outfit when she's feeling frisky" was perfect.

I admit I wish the drink had come from just about anyone other than Shangela at that point. She was clearly flailing to make some kind of statement, any statement.

But Mimi was the worst kind of annoying theater queen. Even still, I just can't even. Congrats to her for knowing Leigh Bowery. Now ditch the beard and play proper.

tbh I have seen her perform in real life and apart from a really amazing lip sync to "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" atop a wood coffin that Sharon Needles wound up popping out of, she is a really selfish and horrible human being and was doing really fucked up and invasive shit to audience members
